DR KELLY HENDERSON

Kelly is the founder and Managing Director of Addressing Domestic Abuse (ADA) - a community interest company whose aim is to support housing providers and local authorities prepare for changes in the Regulator of Social Housing's regulatory requirements and ensure their approach is informed by survivors of domestic abuse. ADA also works with property and repairs companies to enable staff to recognise domestic abuse. Kelly's interest in domestic abuse started over 25 years ago as part of her university placement at a women's refuge; her final year dissertation analysed gender differences in the charging and sentencing of domestic abuse homicides. Prior to Kelly co-founding the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance, Kelly was the Domestic abuse and violent crime lead for a local authority, coordinating the area's Multi Agency Domestic Abuse Partnership and Violent Crime Reduction Partnership. Kelly's has a range of housing experience including the role of Director of Housing in a London based housing organisation, and roles in asylum, the Supporting People Programme, policy and research. Her experience includes project managing a Home Office funded multi police force project (Domestic Abuse: A Whole Systems Approach - DAWSA) to improve the police response to domestic abuse and oversee research into the provision of a national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. She has a Masters in Housing Policy and Management and holds a PhD in Social Science from Durham University focusing on the role of housing in a co-ordinated community response to domestic abuse. She was named 24 Housing's ‘Housing Professional of the Year' 2018 for her work and research on housing and domestic abuse and was named in the top 20 women leaders in Housing in 2020. Kelly is a Non-executive Director of Believe Housing, a trustee of the Alice Ruggles Trust, a founding board member of Women in Social Housing (North East) and an Honorary Research Fellow at Durham University.

Dr Maggie O'Brien

Maggie has worked in the housing sector since 1991, holdING roles AT A UNIVERISTY, HOUSING CONSULTANCIES, locaL AUTHORITIES and A VOLUNTRAY ORGANISATION. She's an expert in ENGLISH housing law and public policy. Maggie has worked for the University of Warwick, (at the School of Social Sciences) since 2020, as a Teaching Fellow. She carries out research on critical legal studies and human rights in practice. She also teaches courses on the law of property relations, modern English legal system and law of trusts. Maggie has worked as a housing consultant since 2016. She has undertaken projects for local authorities that involved producing a housing strategy, restructuring a homelessness service, heading-up a housing supply project, and managing the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. She has also carried out strategy development work abroad for an international voluntary organisation. Maggie worked for Shelter UK from 2013 - 2015, as Head of Operations. She oversaw the delivery of legal, advisory and support services, achieving a restructure ofthe management team, implementation of a new legal driven organisational structure, secured new business contracts in the region of £3m, re-negotiated retention of existing contracts. Maggie worked for the London Borough of Southwark from 2004 - 2011, as Assistance Director of Housing. She was responsible for full landlord service for 55k properties, achieved 8% increase in tenant satisfaction. Led and programme managed housing response to Lakanal Fire. Prior to this she was responsible for community housing, achieved Trailblazer Status in 2009 for improvement and innovation in housing needs services. Maggie worked for Vantagepoint Consultancy from 2002 - 2004, as a housing consultant.She worked with a number of local authorities, carrying out mock inspections and improvement programmes for landlord services, reviewing and delivering improvement programmes for housing needs services, negotiating and developing service levels agreements for landlord services. She worked with Home Office as Project Director of a community cohesion dissemination programme. She also worked with a university to carry out an organisational and business process review. Maggie worked for Westminster City Council from 1991 - 2002. She started as a Policy Advisor on Social Care and Housing, then moved into Management as Head of Housing Strategy, and then into operations as Head of Westminster's pressurised housing needs service. Maggie obtained a PHD in Law from the SOAS University of London, along with an MSC in Public Policy from Birkbeck College.

KatHRYN Barber

KatHRYN has been a solicitor since 2006, holding roleS at leading international and national law firms. She's an expert in property law. KaTHRYN currently works for a national law firm where she has deals with complex real estate transactions on behalf of a range of clients, including investors, property developers, retailers and public sector organisations. kathryn also provides bussiness consultancy servcies including support with drafting documents and reports, research, analysing statistics and preparinh training. KatHRYN obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Bristol, followed by Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Sheffield.

PAUL MUIR

Paul has worked in the housing, health and social care sectors since 1981, holding roles at a social enterprise, local authorities and NHS Trusts. He's an expert in adult social care (learning disabilities and mental health), public policy, outcome measurement and social return on investment. Paul has worked as a consultant since 2000 and was the co-founder and managing director of MWB Consultancy Ltd from 2002- 2015. During this time, he worked for the Audit Commission as Best Value Inspector and as a QUADS consultant for drug services. He has built-up a substantial track record in homelessness services, complex needs services and mental health services. He also undertook significant amounts of work with Sure Start projects and the Children's Fund, working on strategy and commissioning with over 10 Sure Start schemes. Paul convened and supported both the West Midlands and East Midlands Regional Homelessness forums for over 10 years, including redrafting the West Midlands Homelessness Strategy in 2011. Paul worked for Stoke-on-Trent City Council from 1997 to 1999, as a Social Services Planning Manager. He was responsible for the development of strategy and policy, strategic liaison with housing and coordinating the completion of Partnership, Carers and Prevention plans.
