Monnow Primary is an exciting and innovative school that is committed to giving the children and families of the local area the best opportunities... Monnow Primary school is situated in the heart of the Bettws estate on the east side of Newport. The school occupies a large site, comprising of two separate buildings which accommodate both our younger and older primary children, aged 3 - 11. The school site is situated on the edge of spectacular rolling fields and woodland and so, the school has taken the inspiration from the surrounding area. Referencing the book, ‘The Lost Words, we have named our two buildings and each of our classes, in celebration of the local nature and woodlands. The early years building which houses Nursery up to year 3 is called the ‘Acorns' building. The building housing year 4 to year 6 is called the ‘Oaks' building.
