Bob Fowke

Bob is a prolific writer of historical non-fiction and children's reference books, published by Hachette, Oxford University Press, Collins and Heinemann. He also represented Blackwell's Academic Library Suppliers to the Middle and Far East. Bob is a committed advocate of self publishing and has self-published several titles as well as contributing topical articles to the Guardian Online. Bob is also an accomplished illustrator and has painted many science-fiction book covers for authors such as Philip K Dick and Angela Carter.

Caroline Denham

The Writer's Lodge is a new project, being developed in association with YouCaxton, a rural retreat providing a quiet setting for authors to prepare manuscripts for publication and to develop their understanding of self-publishing. Building work will start shortly; there will be a cottage, the Writer's Lodge and a studio in Bishop's Castle, in idyllic south Shropshire. Courses on various publishing-related topics will be held over the year. Caroline Denham, who is managing the project, has worked for Oxford University Press and as editor of British Homing World. She was at one time proprietor of a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Clun and is a qualified solicitor, until recently senior partner in a local firm. Her recent literary interests have been focussed on the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, in particular Rudyard Kipling and Robert Louis Stevenson.

Richard Hawkins

Richard Hawkins has worked as a writer and producer since the late 1980s with several critically acclaimed productions to his name, including on Broadway. His first screenplay, the internationally successful The Theory of Flight, co-produced by both the BBC and Miramax, was directed by Paul Greengrass (Bourne Ultimatum, Captain Philips) and starred Kenneth Branagh and Helena Bonham Carter. The film opened the 23rd Toronto International Film Festival. Richard has worked extensively as a re-writer, and more recently as a creative adviser for China's emerging film industry, playing a critical role in the establishment of several on-going, long-term relationships between American and Chinese studios. He also gives support as a specialist acting coach, taking both new and established stars and working them through various castings and/or preparing them for particular film roles. Actors worked with include Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomi Harris, Domonic Cooper, Stephen Mangan, Gugu Mbatha Raw, Ed Skrein and Danny Dyer.

Robert Branton

In 1990, we moved to Oxford and Robert joined the team specializing in reference works. We established a network of researchers, illustrators and book designers to produce children's reference books and resource material for educational publishers including Collins, Hodder, Heinemann, Cassells, OUP and others. Robert also worked as a software designer with the Compulexis consultancy which advised on the production of dictionaries developing software used by OUP, Santillana, Liber Norstedts and the EU Terminology database. Having studied at the Computing Laboratory in Oxford, Robert worked at Nottingham University before co-founding Memotech Ltd, the IT company. He subsequently spent several years working as an analyst for the government Office for Criminal Justice Reform Robert founded TheArtCircus and UKGiclee websites to support and promote the work of artists and photographers.

Shirley McLellan

Shirley brings to the table 20 years of experience in the editorial field. She is a former journalist, a writer, editor and consultant who has worked with big brands, publishers and authors. She specialises in commercial fiction but is particularly keen on literary fiction, inspirational titles and works by under-represented voices, and especially writers of colour. She "loves, loves, loves" helping first-time authors.

Steve Edwards

Steve joined YouCaxton to set up our print-management and book-distribution facility in Shrewsbury. Steve is a print specialist with long experience in the print and publishing industry. He can provide advice and print management for all types of book and will match your project to the most suitable print-technology and supplier. Steve is also an acomplished book designer and manages the preparation of specialist Artist books and complex print projects.
