OMID was founded by Marjaneh Halati, a social psychologist and psychotherapist. The OMID concept is her brainchild, and it is her vision that has created its distinctive approach to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young women achieve self-awareness, self-determination and self-sufficiency in modern society. She works with all OMID charities in order to bring new solutions to complex problems. She does this with uniqueness, effectiveness and originality... OMID was set up in 2004 to help marginalized adolescent girls and young women who are victims of sexual, physical or mental abuse; slavery; forced prostitution; forced labor; oppression; and institutional and domestic violence. They often suffer from severe mental health and emotional difficulties, mostly stemming from their experiences of neglect, physical and sexual abuse, and of exposure to discrimination and violence...
