Chris Hesman

Job Titles:

Chris joined Timera from Tesla Europe where he had responsibility for a range of power market analysis. This included analysis of power demand forecasting and generation stack modelling. Chris has a strong background in energy data analysis and has also done a placement year with Oxford Economics. Chris has a BSc in Economics (1 st Class Honours) from University of Surrey. He then completed a MSc in Environmental & Resource Economics (Distinction) from the University of Birmingham. Chris is focused on supporting Timera's client base on power market analysis and valuation & optimisation of power and hydrogen assets.

David Duncan

Job Titles:

David is a Director focusing on Timera's gas & LNG market services. David joined Timera from RWE Supply & Trading. He has a commercial analytics background that spans LNG, gas & power. David also has experience of hedging & optimisation of RWE's LNG portfolio and associated exposures. Since joining Timera David has been focusing on client work including battery investment and LNG portfolio valuation. David studied at the University of Warwick and has a BScMPhys Physics (Integrated Masters): First Class Honours. He went through the RWE Supply & Trading Graduate Scheme. This included a rotation across 3 commercial teams: LNG Trading & Origination, Atlantic Coal and US Gas & Power. David then worked as an analyst on RWE's LNG trading desk, focusing on portfolio hedging and optimisation.

David Stokes - Managing Director

David has worked in energy and financial markets since 1996. He is an expert in the valuation and risk management of energy assets and portfolios. He has worked in roles across Europe, the US and Australia which have combined commercial and trading experience with a depth of analytical expertise. David has led Timera's work with clients including Green Investment Group, Macquarie, Sembcorp, Gasunie, Bluefield, Equinor and Uniper. David has an Honours degree in Economics from the Australian National University. He completed a graduate trading desk programme with Bankers Trust in Sydney and then joined JP Morgan working as a foreign exchange trader in London and New York. After making the transition to energy markets in the late 90's, David worked on the Structuring Desk at Williams Energy in London valuing assets and structured energy contracts and developing hedging and risk management strategies. He then joined the Wholesale and Trading division of Origin Energy in Australia, having responsibility for the valuation and risk assessment of major projects, contracts and acquisitions. Prior to co-founding Timera Energy, David was a member of the Senior Management Team at Redpoint Energy.

Esme Chowdhry

Esme joined Timera from INEOS where he worked on the trading desk as an Energy Markets Analyst. His focus here was on analysis of UK & Continental European gas market balances to feed into trading desk decisions, as well as tracking of power & emissions markets. Esme also has experience of gas operations (e.g. scheduling) & trade control. He started his career at EDF Energy Nuclear as a graduate engineer. Esme has a MEng Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester and an MSc Computer Science with Data Analytics from York University. Esme is focused on supporting Timera's LNG & gas client base on market analysis and valuation & optimisation of assets.

Howard Rogers

Howard Rogers has been a Senior Advisor with Timera Energy since 2013, ramping up to be 100% Timera focused since Q4 2019. Prior to Q4-19 he was also Chairman of the Natural Gas Research Programme at the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies (OIES), following almost 30 years in commercial and analytical roles at BP. Howard leads Timera Energy's LNG & European gas market fundamental analysis, working with clients including Macquarie, JP Morgan, OMERS, IUK and Fluxys. In his OIES role, Howard was responsible for the management, strategic direction and finances of an internationally renowned gas research programme employing a team of permanent staff and larger group of visiting Research Fellows and contributors. Prior to this, Howard spent almost 30 years in commercial and analytical roles at BP. This included Head of Fundamental Analysis, BP Global Gas (2002-2008) where he managed a Team of four analysts to provide the analytical foundation for BP's gas business development strategy. He was a Senior Gas Negotiator (1999-2002). In addition his experience with BP included roles in upstream business development, strategy and planning in Europe, USA, Kuwait and Azerbaijan.

Jon Brown

Jon has over 10 years industry experience in energy & financial markets. Prior to joining Timera Energy, he was a Senior Quantitative Analyst for EDF Energy where he developed & applied a range of commercial analytics tools as well as working in the South Hook LNG regas commercial optimisation team. Jon also has strong expertise in data analytics, market risk and flexible energy asset optimisation. Jon has a BSc in Financial Economics (Hons) from Leicester University and is a GARP certified Energy Risk Professional. He began his career as a Risk Analyst at City Index, before transitioning to a risk role at South Hook Gas Co. Jon quickly progressed to become a Senior Optimisation Analyst at South Hook with responsibility for contract pricing, delivery optimisation & commercial analytics. He then moved to EDF Energy where he worked as Senior Quantitative Analyst on a range of data & analytical solutions (e.g. battery optimisation, portfolio risk analysis). As Director of Analytics, Jon leads the development of Timera's analytical capability and data solutions as well as deploying these on client projects.

Katherine Daman

Katherine joined Timera from National Grid where she worked on the Energy Trading desk managing UK power system & energy requirements. This included negotiating commercial contracts with generators and running competitive auctions across interconnectors. Prior to Grid Katherine worked in an engineering role at ExxonMobil. She has a strong background in commercial, market & energy data analysis. Katherine has a M.Eng Chemical Engineering (1 st Class Honours) from University of Birmingham. This included a Research Project on decarbonising the UK national gas grid. Katherine is focused on supporting Timera's client base on power market analysis and valuation & optimisation of flexible power assets.

Lucienne Hill Smith

Lucienne joined Timera from Hartree Partners where she was an Energy Operations Analyst. In this role she worked on the UK and Continental power and gas trading desks supporting day-to-day trading procedures as well as the set-up of cross border flows. Lucienne has a MSc. Operational Research and BSc. Mathematics (1 st Class honours) from the University of Edinburgh. Her Master's dissertation was focused on Optimal Integration of PV Systems in Distribution Networks. Lucienne works in Timera's analyst team with responsibility for power market analysis and commercial analysis of flexible power assets.

Luke Cottell

Luke joined Timera from S&P Global Commodity Insights where he was LNG Analytics Team Lead. His focus here was on coordinating and leading commercial engagements and serving as subject matter expert on LNG market value drivers. Prior to this Luke was a cross-commodity analyst at Natixis where he produced analysis for the bank's corporate clients on base metal, ferrous metal, and global gas and LNG markets. Luke has a MSci Geology with 1 st Class Honours from Imperial College London, including Corporate Finance and Project Management modules. Luke is focused on supporting Timera's client base on gas & LNG market analysis and valuation & optimisation of LNG & gas portfolios.

Nick Perry

Nick Perry has been a Senior Advisor with Timera Energy since 2012. Nick has extensive energy industry expertise specialising in portfolio & transaction structuring, risk management, market dynamics and regulatory issues. He has spent over 20 years working in the gas and power industries for Exxon, Amoco and Enron, where he was a Board Director of Enron Europe & Teesside Power. Nick has also provided commercial consulting expertise to energy companies, banks, regulators and governments. Nick has acted as a principal in the negotiation of numerous long term contracts when at Exxon/Esso, Amoco and Enron. Nick was founder-shareholder and Senior VP of Caminus Corp. where he held the role of Managing Director European Strategic Consulting. From 1993-1997 Nick was a Board Director, Enron Europe Ltd and of Teesside Power Ltd. From 1988-1993 he worked as a Senior Negotiator, Natural Gas for Amoco and from 1977-1988 held various commercial and negotiating roles in Supply, Logistics, Treasury and Natural Gas for Exxon/Esso.

Olly Spinks - Managing Director

Olly has more than 20 years experience in the energy industry. He is an expert in a broad spectrum of analytical techniques that are applied to gas and power markets. He has worked in a variety of roles within energy companies, including heading BP's commercial analytics team. This has given him a deep understanding of asset valuation, hedging and optimisation. Olly has led Timera's work with clients including OMERS, JP Morgan, Cheniere, Fluxys, Temasek, Qatar Gas and Glencore. Olly has a Master of Commerce (Hons) degree in Operations Research from the University of Canterbury (NZ). The early years of his career were spent working in both New Zealand and Europe in industry roles focused on power and gas asset valuation and market fundamental analysis. This included time at Dynegy UK where he worked on a number of large deals. Olly then spent 7 years with BP Integrated Supply and Trading where he ran the commercial analytics function for BP's European gas, power and global LNG trading businesses. In this role, he managed a large team delivering asset valuation services, deal structuring and fundamental analysis to the trading books and business development teams.

Phil Robinson

Phil has more than 15 years industry experience in energy markets. He has a senior commercial background and is an expert in managing the value and risk of power assets. Phil has worked in commercial, analytical & trading roles at Calon Energy, EDF Energy and E.ON Energy Trading. Phil has played a leading role in a number of Timera's UK power projects for clients including Drax, Triton Energy, Covalis and Axpo. Phil has a Masters degree in Business Economics from UMIST. Prior to this he completed an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham. He spent the earlier years of his career working as an analyst and structured trader with E.ON. He was then Head of UK Portfolio Analysis for E.ON Energy Trading before he moved to EDF where he was Head of Energy Market and Credit Risk. Before joining Timera, Phil was commercial head of Calon Energy where he had responsibility for integration and commercial strategy development for Calon's portfolio of three UK CCGT assets.

Rosie Read

Rosie is a Director with Timera, with a focus on developing our market leading analytical capability. She has strong expertise in commercial analysis of energy markets and operations research. This draws on over 10 years of experience in the utility sector, covering market design & regulation, developing strategic market models, investment analysis, hydro-optimisation, trading and market operations. Rosie holds a BCom (Hons) and a MCom (Hons) in Management Science, specialising in Operations Research and has experience in power-flow modelling, cost-benefit analysis, reservoir optimisation, simulation, financial analysis and system dynamics modelling. Prior to joining Timera, Rosie worked for Meridian Energy, a New Zealand and Australian electricity generator-retailer. During her time there she provided data-driven strategic advice as an input to regulatory submissions and strategic investment decision-making. She also spent time as an energy trader in Meridian's 24×7 energy trading team. Rosie has also has roles at ECA and PA Consulting. Rosie has lead asset valuation, portfolio analysis and transaction work with clients including EnBW, Aviva, Axpo & Woodside.

Sameer Essajee

Sameer joined the Timera team from a quantitative analysis & engineering background. He has strong analytical, technical & coding skills that support his analysis of energy markets and asset value & risk. Sameer has a BEng Mechanical Engineering (1 st Class Honours) from the University of Warwick. He also holds a MSc Financial Technology (Distinction) from Imperial College Business School, focusing on quantitative financial analysis. Prior to joining Timera, Sameer was working with Candesic analysing complex products & market dynamics for private equity clients. Before this he worked as a Quantitative Analyst at a UK based fintech start up (IV digital). Since joining Timera, Sameer has been focused on analysis of battery and hydro assets and developing our in-house analytical & modelling capability.

Selina Paxton

In this role she focused on optimisation & commercial analysis of UK battery storage assets, trading UK power in the shift team and analysing market dynamics. Selina has an Energy Science MSc (Distinction) from Trinity College Dublin with a research project on applications of solar thermal technology and a Physics BSc Degree from the University of Edinburgh. Selina works in Timera's analyst team with responsibility for power market analysis and commercial analysis of flexible power assets.

Steven Coppack

Steven is a Director focusing on Timera's power market services. Prior to joining Timera Energy, he was a power trader for Total Gas & Power where he also had responsibility for analysis of power, gas & carbon markets. In addition to trading, Steven's experience covers power market fundamentals, commercial structuring & responsibility for presenting reports to senior management. Steven has a MPhys in Physics and Philosophy with First Class Honours (York). He began his career at EDF Energy as a Business Analyst working on asset development, renewable PPAs & power operations. Steven then moved to Total where he was an Energy Trader, creating, analysing & executing trading strategies across a range of European power markets. Steven's practical industry expertise feeds into Timera's market and asset analytics capability. Steven has lead flexible power asset investment, value monetisation & market analysis work with clients including Green Investment Group, Bluefield, Intergen & Sembcorp.
