Clarence Crosdale - Chairman

Clarence is the Chairman of the board; he has been a member of the Board since it's inception over 30 years ago. He has a professional background in Social Care and has worked for several local authorities, as well as the independent sector. He also works as an independent consultant in social work, safeguarding, dispute resolutions and coaching for individuals and organisations, where he feels his experience can make a difference.

Diana Smith

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Board
Diana Claudine Smith graduated in BSc Biomedical Science in 2009. The same year, she gave birth to her son William who is a service user. Her son has sickle cell anaemia and was diagnosed at birth with the heel prick test; he also has learning difficulties. She has a considerable amount of volunteering experience, volunteering at New Cross for two years and at The Beacon Charity Shop. Now she is a Hospitality and Events Manager working her way up in the hospitality industry over 7 years. Diana has worked on a number of large events including horseracing, rugby, football, Wimbledon and the recent Commonwealth Games. Diana became a board member in August 2022.

Donald McIntosh

Donald McIntosh has been with the project since its inception. His involvement stems from the personal experience of individuals living with the condition.

Dorothy McIntosh

Job Titles:

Wolverhampton NHS Senior Clinical Manager/Commissioner/Nurse. Dorothy has been a resident in Wolverhampton for over 42 years. Born in Falmouth Jamaica and brought up in England. 2nd generation Jamaican British, Christian, married for over 32 years with one son and one daughter.

Dr. Deepak Kalra

Deepak has been a Director since 2004 and is Vice President of the Board. He is the lead director for the sickle cell and thalassaemia part of the service provided by SCTSP. Deepak was a Consultant Paediatrician in Wolverhampton for 26 years before his retirement in 2013. He had a special interest in children's blood disorders, including sickle cell disease and thalassaemia.

Jerome McIntosh

Jerome is an admin assistant for the organisation and has over 15 years of experience in administration. He has been with the organisation for over 10 years, acting as support for staff. He is gratified to work a third sector organisation doing social good for people and communities.

Linton Bell

Linton trained for a number of years, as a trainee junior auditor with a firm of Chartered Accountants and was later asked to join one of the companies he audited, to become a Senior Accountant, in the Aircraft Industry.

Pam Lakhpuri

Pam graduated with a BSc Hons in Health studies in 1999, she joined the organisation in October 2000 as a Thalassaemia Development officer. She then moved to London in May 2003 and worked for Islington & Camden PCT as a screening project officer for Breast, Cervical & Bowel screening programmes. She further then graduated with a MA in 2006 in Public Health/Promotion. Pam returned back to the organisation and re-joined the project in Dec 2009 as a Haemoglobinopathy Community Counsellor. Pam works closely with all our affected families from 0-19 years. One of her main roles is to support and advise families who are affected by Haemoglobinopathies. This includes ensuring families know how to manage the care for their children. She ensures all social, physical and emotional needs are supported and appropriate advice is provided to our families. She liaises and works closely with all other agencies who may be involved with our families to ensure all our family's needs are met. She supports all families whilst in the hospital including any admissions, discharges and hospital appointments. Pam works closely providing support, advice, training and information with all child care/ educational settings, all Primary care providers, and community and voluntary organisations, including any faith organisations etc. Pam ensures all of our affected children attending a childcare/educational provider have a Health care plan in place. These can be updated when required. As we work closely with the NHS Sickle cell & Thalassaemia screening programme, Pam ensures all neonatal carrier results in the areas we cover are delivered and information via counselling is provided to our families. Pam has accessed and continues to attend all relevant and professional training to ensure her knowledge and understanding of Haemoglobinopathies is accurate and regularly updated. Pam has a vast amount of experience, knowledge has a huge passion for tackling health and social inequalities in the community so that our families are best supported.

Sutinder Herian

Sutinder Herian has been with the organisation since April 1997. Her professional background is in Management and Leadership, completed her MBA at Wolverhampton University in 2011. Has a keen interest in supporting children and families and those in particular impacted by health and other inequalities. Worked with several local authorities, NHS trusts and grants/trusts.

Sydney Griffiths

Job Titles:
  • Digital Marketing Apprentice
Sydney began a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Support Project in August 2021 after completing A-levels in Drama, Media, and Law.

Valerie Davis

Job Titles:
  • Haemoglobinopathy Nurse Counsellor
Valerie trained and qualified as a registered nurse on the outskirts of London almost 4 decades ago. She has worked as a nurse across the length and breadth of the country to include Essex, Reading and the West Midlands. She has also worked in many nursing disciplines to include, Pediatrics, Accident & Emergency and NHS Direct. She has been in her current role at the Sickle Cell & Thalassemia Support project as a Counselor/clinical nurse specialist for haemoglobinopathies since April 2010.
