Abacus was established in 1988 as a not for profit co-operative society managed and controlled by chartered accountants for the purpose of providing a peer managed risk management service for the benefit of chartered accountants. It is not an insurance company... Abacus has a proud history of providing risk management services and Professional Indemnity Insurance for NZ Chartered Accountants since the society was founded in 1988. As an Incorporated Society we have partnered with Aon, the world's leading insurance broker to provide our members quality Professional Indemnity and associated Liability Group Insurance Product and Risk Management Advice... The Abacus Board of Management is made up of five members who are principals entirely of Member Firms. The Board elects the Chairperson who appoints the Secretary and the Insurance Consultants. Our Board Members are geographically distributed throughout New Zealand to bring a diversity of perspective to the leadership of Abacus.
