Andrew P. Witty - CEO

Andrew Witty was named chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group in February 2021. As UnitedHealth Group CEO, Witty is responsible for the strategic direction and overall performance of the enterprise and its long-term growth agenda. He is also a member of the UnitedHealth Group Board of Directors. Witty was named executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, and CEO of Optum, in March 2018 and previously served as a UnitedHealth Group company director. From 2008 to 2017, Witty was CEO and a director of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK). He joined GSK in 1985, and prior to being named CEO, served as president of GSK Europe. Witty is former chancellor of the University of Nottingham, a British public research university, and serves on the Singapore Prime Minister's Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council. He became chair, Imperial College Business School Advisory Board in November 2020. Between April and December 2020, Witty took an unpaid leave as special envoy at the World Health Organization, co-leading the effort to accelerate responses to COVID-19. Witty was knighted in 2012 for services to the U.K. economy. In 2017, he was named an honorary citizen by Singapore for his contributions to the country's growth and development. He earned honorary degrees from Exeter, Manchester and Nottingham Universities.

Anne Yau - SVP

Anne Yau was named senior vice president of Social Responsibility, UnitedHealth Group, and president of the United Health Foundation in September 2023. In this role, she leads the corporate social responsibility strategy, employee giving and volunteering programs, America's Health Rankings platform and all philanthropic, charitable and grant-making efforts through the United Health Foundation. Yau joined UnitedHealth Group in 2010 and has led numerous enterprise-wide efforts to advance the company's policy and advocacy priorities, and social responsibility initiatives. Prior to UnitedHealth Group, Yau worked in management consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton and CGI serving commercial, state and federal clients including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Brian Thompson

Catherine Anderson

Catherine Anderson was named senior vice president of health equity strategy for UnitedHealth Group in August 2023. In this role, Anderson is responsible for engaging internal and external stakeholders and partners to shape policy, convene communities and design interventions to reduce disparities. Anderson has more than 30 years of experience in public policy development, legislative affairs, advocacy and product development. Previously, she was senior vice president of policy and strategic engagement for UnitedHealthcare Community & State. Anderson currently serves as board chair for Medicaid Health Plans of America. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science/sociology from Phillips University, a master's in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver, and a master's in health care delivery science from Dartmouth College.

Cory B. Alexander

Cory Alexander serves as a strategic advisor for UnitedHealth Group, providing advice and perspective on the external, societal and political environment with a particular focus on long-term evolution in the health care landscape. Dame Vivian Hunt

Dame Vivian Hunt was named chief innovation officer of Optum in October 2022. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Hunt was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, where she served as the managing partner for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Before that, she led the Life Sciences practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During her career, Hunt worked in the health care industry to help tackle complex issues in the public and private sectors. In addition to her client responsibilities, Hunt led research on productivity, leadership, stakeholder capitalism and ESG. Hunt started her career in the Peace Corps, serving as a midwife in rural Senegal. In 2018, Hunt was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the economy and women in business. Hunt earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and an MBA from Harvard.

Dan Schumacher

Dan Schumacher was named chief strategy and growth officer of UnitedHealth Group in April 2021. In this role, he is responsible for efforts focused on experience, strategic client relationships, research and development, growth, and transformation. Additionally, Schumacher was named chief executive officer of Optum Insight in April of 2022. Previously, Schumacher served as president and chief operating officer of Optum. Dirk McMahon - COO, President

Dirk McMahon was named president and chief operating officer of UnitedHealth Group in February 2021. As president and COO, he is responsible for driving performance across the enterprise. He was named chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare in June 2019 and previously served as president and COO of Optum, with responsibility for driving Optum's performance and directly overseeing Optum Insight, Optum Technology, Operations, Optum Administration and business and corporate strategy. In 2017, McMahon was named to the Office of the Chief Executive. Dr. Amar A. Desai - CEO

Dr. Amar A. Desai was named chief executive officer of Optum Health in July 2023. In this role, he's responsible for accelerating a patient-centered, value-based care model to achieve quality outcomes and improved experiences for patients, while lowering the total cost of care. Prior to Optum Health, Desai served as president of Health Care Delivery at CVS Health. Before that, Desai served as president and CEO of Optum Pacific West, building and operating the largest multi-payer, value-based care delivery organization on the West Coast. Prior to joining Optum, he was CEO of University of Southern California (USC) Care and a senior executive at DaVita, a global leader in dialysis care. Earlier in his career, Desai served as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company. Desai earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from Brown University and his master's degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He has previously served as associate clinical professor of medicine at Keck School of Medicine at USC and held faculty appointments at Stanford School of Medicine and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Patrick Conway - CEO

In this role, he leads an integrated pharmacy care services organization that is making drugs more affordable and creating a better experience for consumers. He joined Optum in February 2020 and previously served as the CEO of Care Solutions. From 2017 to 2019, Conway was president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. From 2011 to 2017, he served as deputy administrator for Innovation and Quality at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and the agency's chief medical officer. Before then, he oversaw clinical operations and quality improvement at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Conway is a practicing pediatric hospitalist. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2014, received the President's Senior Executive Distinguished Service Award, and was a White House Fellow from 2007 to 2008. He earned his M.D. with high honors from Baylor College of Medicine, did his residency training at Boston Children's Hospital, and received a Master of Science in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Erin McSweeney - CHRO, EVP

Erin McSweeney was named executive vice president and chief people officer for UnitedHealth Group in March 2022. In this role, McSweeney is responsible for developing and implementing UnitedHealth Group's enterprise people and culture strategy and strengthening leadership alignment. She joined UnitedHealth Group in 2017 and served as executive vice president and chief human resources officer of Optum for four years. In 2021, she became chief of staff to UnitedHealth Group's Office of the Chief Executive. Serving more than three decades as a human resources professional, McSweeney is an experienced strategic change agent with a track record of elevating organizational performance and strengthening cultural values. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, McSweeney was executive vice president and chief human resources officer for EMC Corporation (now Dell Technologies). During her 11 years with EMC, she held various senior-level human resources roles within the organization, including for VCE (a joint venture of EMC), Cisco and VMWare (now a business unit within EMC). Throughout her career, she held several leadership roles in various industries, startups and turnarounds.

Heather Cianfrocco - President
