Andrew Witty was named chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group in February 2021. As UnitedHealth Group CEO, Witty is responsible for the strategic direction and overall performance of the enterprise and its long-term growth agenda. He is also a member of the UnitedHealth Group Board of Directors. Witty was named executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, and CEO of Optum, in March 2018 and previously served as a UnitedHealth Group company director.
From 2008 to 2017, Witty was CEO and a director of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK). He joined GSK in 1985, and prior to being named CEO, served as president of GSK Europe.
Witty is former chancellor of the University of Nottingham, a British public research university, and serves on the Singapore Prime Minister's Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council. He became chair, Imperial College Business School Advisory Board in November 2020. Between April and December 2020, Witty took an unpaid leave as special envoy at the World Health Organization, co-leading the effort to accelerate responses to COVID-19.
Witty was knighted in 2012 for services to the U.K. economy. In 2017, he was named an honorary citizen by Singapore for his contributions to the country's growth and development. He earned honorary degrees from Exeter, Manchester and Nottingham Universities.

Anne Yau was named senior vice president of Social Responsibility, UnitedHealth Group, and president of the United Health Foundation in September 2023. In this role, she leads the corporate social responsibility strategy, employee giving and volunteering programs, America's Health Rankings platform and all philanthropic, charitable and grant-making efforts through the United Health Foundation.
Yau joined UnitedHealth Group in 2010 and has led numerous enterprise-wide efforts to advance the company's policy and advocacy priorities, and social responsibility initiatives. Prior to UnitedHealth Group, Yau worked in management consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton and CGI serving commercial, state and federal clients including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and a master's degree in public policy from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Brian Thompson was named chief executive officer for UnitedHealthcare in April 2021. Prior to this role, he served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare government programs including Medicare & Retirement and Community & State. Before leading government programs, Thompson served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement.
Thompson joined UnitedHealth Group in 2004 and has held numerous leadership positions including chief financial officer for UnitedHealthcare's Employer & Individual, Community & State and Medicare & Retirement businesses. In addition, Thompson has served as the financial controller for UnitedHealthcare's Employer & Individual business and a director in Corporate Development.

Catherine Anderson was named senior vice president of health equity strategy for UnitedHealth Group in August 2023. In this role, Anderson is responsible for engaging internal and external stakeholders and partners to shape policy, convene communities and design interventions to reduce disparities. Anderson has more than 30 years of experience in public policy development, legislative affairs, advocacy and product development. Previously, she was senior vice president of policy and strategic engagement for UnitedHealthcare Community & State.
Anderson currently serves as board chair for Medicaid Health Plans of America. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science/sociology from Phillips University, a master's in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver, and a master's in health care delivery science from Dartmouth College.
Cory Alexander serves as a strategic advisor for UnitedHealth Group, providing advice and perspective on the external, societal and political environment with a particular focus on long-term evolution in the health care landscape. Previously, Alexander was executive vice president for Corporate Affairs at UnitedHealth Group. In this role, he provided executive leadership for marketing, communications, research, international relations, U.S. external affairs, social responsibility and United Health Foundation activities. From 2014 to 2018, Alexander led External Affairs, with responsibility for enterprise government and public affairs, international relations and social responsibility activities. Alexander joined UnitedHealth Group in 2009, serving in various Government Affairs leadership roles.
Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Alexander held a senior role in Government Relations for Fannie Mae and served as chief of staff for House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
Dame Vivian Hunt was named chief innovation officer of Optum in October 2022. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Hunt was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, where she served as the managing partner for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Before that, she led the Life Sciences practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
During her career, Hunt worked in the health care industry to help tackle complex issues in the public and private sectors. In addition to her client responsibilities, Hunt led research on productivity, leadership, stakeholder capitalism and ESG. Hunt started her career in the Peace Corps, serving as a midwife in rural Senegal.
In 2018, Hunt was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the economy and women in business. Hunt earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and an MBA from Harvard.

Dan Schumacher was named chief strategy and growth officer of UnitedHealth Group in April 2021. In this role, he is responsible for efforts focused on experience, strategic client relationships, research and development, growth, and transformation. Additionally, Schumacher was named chief executive officer of Optum Insight in April of 2022.
Previously, Schumacher served as president and chief operating officer of Optum. He was responsible for Optum enterprise performance and oversight of Optum Insight, Optum Technology, global operations and enterprise clinical capabilities.
Schumacher has also held several leadership positions at UnitedHealthcare, including president and COO, where he had direct responsibility for the UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual and UnitedHealthcare Global businesses as well as network, clinical, operations and technology support functions for UnitedHealthcare. He has also served as COO, chief financial officer and co-lead of the organization alongside the three UnitedHealthcare principal business leaders.
Additionally, he was CFO of the Group Insurance Division, director of finance for Specialized Care Services (now Optum Health) and director for UnitedHealth Group Corporate Development in support of enterprise-wide merger and acquisition activity.

Dirk McMahon was named president and chief operating officer of UnitedHealth Group in February 2021. As president and COO, he is responsible for driving performance across the enterprise. He was named chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare in June 2019 and previously served as president and COO of Optum, with responsibility for driving Optum's performance and directly overseeing Optum Insight, Optum Technology, Operations, Optum Administration and business and corporate strategy. In 2017, McMahon was named to the Office of the Chief Executive.
McMahon has served in a number of leadership positions across the enterprise since joining the company in 2003, including executive vice president of Enterprise Operations for UnitedHealth Group and CEO of Optum Rx, along with various management positions in information technology, operations and finance. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, McMahon was head of airport operations worldwide for Northwest Airlines.
Dr. Amar A. Desai was named chief executive officer of Optum Health in July 2023. In this role, he's responsible for accelerating a patient-centered, value-based care model to achieve quality outcomes and improved experiences for patients, while lowering the total cost of care.
Prior to Optum Health, Desai served as president of Health Care Delivery at CVS Health. Before that, Desai served as president and CEO of Optum Pacific West, building and operating the largest multi-payer, value-based care delivery organization on the West Coast. Prior to joining Optum, he was CEO of University of Southern California (USC) Care and a senior executive at DaVita, a global leader in dialysis care. Earlier in his career, Desai served as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company.
Desai earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from Brown University and his master's degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He has previously served as associate clinical professor of medicine at Keck School of Medicine at USC and held faculty appointments at Stanford School of Medicine and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Margaret-Mary Wilson was named executive vice president and chief medical officer of UnitedHealth Group in December 2021. In this role, Wilson advances the company's clinical innovations and leads efforts to develop a modern, sustainable high-performing health system that addresses critical needs and opportunities to improve health equity, expand access, lower costs and improve outcomes and experiences for patients, payers and providers.
Wilson joined UnitedHealth Group in 2008 and served as an associate chief medical officer. Before that, she was at UnitedHealthcare Clinical Services and then a chief medical officer for UnitedHealthcare Global, where she ensured a high-performance, high-reliability global clinical care delivery business.
Dr. Patrick Conway was named chief executive officer of Optum Rx in August 2023. In this role, he leads an integrated pharmacy care services organization that is making drugs more affordable and creating a better experience for consumers. He joined Optum in February 2020 and previously served as the CEO of Care Solutions.
From 2017 to 2019, Conway was president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. From 2011 to 2017, he served as deputy administrator for Innovation and Quality at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and the agency's chief medical officer. Before then, he oversaw clinical operations and quality improvement at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Conway is a practicing pediatric hospitalist. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2014, received the President's Senior Executive Distinguished Service Award, and was a White House Fellow from 2007 to 2008. He earned his M.D. with high honors from Baylor College of Medicine, did his residency training at Boston Children's Hospital, and received a Master of Science in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Erin McSweeney was named executive vice president and chief people officer for UnitedHealth Group in March 2022. In this role, McSweeney is responsible for developing and implementing UnitedHealth Group's enterprise people and culture strategy and strengthening leadership alignment. She joined UnitedHealth Group in 2017 and served as executive vice president and chief human resources officer of Optum for four years. In 2021, she became chief of staff to UnitedHealth Group's Office of the Chief Executive.
Serving more than three decades as a human resources professional, McSweeney is an experienced strategic change agent with a track record of elevating organizational performance and strengthening cultural values. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, McSweeney was executive vice president and chief human resources officer for EMC Corporation (now Dell Technologies). During her 11 years with EMC, she held various senior-level human resources roles within the organization, including for VCE (a joint venture of EMC), Cisco and VMWare (now a business unit within EMC). Throughout her career, she held several leadership roles in various industries, startups and turnarounds.
Heather Cianfrocco was named president of Optum in August 2023. She is responsible for leading Optum's comprehensive pharmacy and care delivery capabilities across the entire care continuum, with a focus on value-based care and the integration of medical, behavioral and pharmacy services. Cianfrocco also serves as the executive sponsor of UnitedHealth Group's LGBTQ+ employee resource group and is a member of the Women's Leader Advisory Council.
Cianfrocco joined UnitedHealth Group in 2008 where she held numerous leadership roles. She previously served as chief executive officer of Optum Rx and CEO for Optum's Health Services. Before that, she was CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community & State, senior vice president of Health Advancement and Clinical Transformation for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, and CEO of state and regional health plans. In addition, she was a former member of the United Health Foundation Advisory Board.

John Rex was named chief financial officer and executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group in 2016. In this role, Rex has an expansive operating, growth and finance portfolio. He is responsible for oversight of Treasury, mergers and acquisitions, and venture and private equity investment activity. Rex joined Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services business, as CFO and executive vice president in 2012. In his prior roles, Rex was a leading equity research analyst, a strategy and operational consultant and a certified public accountant across diverse health care sectors.

Neil de Crescenzo is chief executive officer of Optum Insight. In this role, he's responsible for working across multiple health care segments to provide administrative and clinical software, network and data solutions.
De Crescenzo joined Optum through the acquisition of Change Healthcare, where he served as president and CEO. Before joining Change Healthcare, he was senior vice president and general manager of Oracle's Global Health Sciences business. Before then, he served as a senior executive for IBM Corporation's Global Healthcare Business Consulting Services.
De Crescenzo earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Yale University and an MBA from Northeastern University. She has led human capital teams within complex and highly regulated industries, including aerospace, technology and life sciences. Richard Mattera was named chief development officer of UnitedHealth Group in 2020. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Connor served as president of Vaccines and Global Health at GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK), where he led a global organization responsible for the discovery, development, manufacturing and delivery of vaccines to over 160 countries. He held several leadership roles within vaccines, finance and manufacturing strategy during his 25-year career at GSK. Connor started his career with AstraZeneca.
Connor earned a degree in mechanical and manufacturing engineering from Queen's University Belfast and a master's in manufacturing leadership from Cambridge University. He is also a qualified chartered accountant, having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Rupert Bondy was named executive vice president and chief legal officer of UnitedHealth Group in March 2022. Bondy previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Reckitt, a consumer goods group focused on hygiene, health and nutrition products.
Prior to joining Reckitt, he was group general counsel of energy company BP plc, holding that position until 2017. Bondy began his career as a private practice lawyer. In 1989, he joined U.S. law firm Morrison & Foerster, working in San Francisco and London. He has also previously worked for Lovells in London, served as senior counsel for mergers and acquisitions and other corporate matters at pharmaceutical company SmithKline Beecham, and served as senior vice president and general counsel for GlaxoSmithKline.

Terry M. Clark was named chief marketing officer of UnitedHealth Group in 2014 and added responsibility as chief marketing and customer officer of Optum in 2022. In this role, Clark leads UnitedHealth Group's marketing, brand and customer experience efforts, focusing on transforming how people experience our products and services. Previously, Clark served as chief marketing officer of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, leading direct-to-consumer efforts.
Clark joined UnitedHealthcare in 2006 from IAC/InterActiveCorp, a consumer marketing and technology company comprised of leading digital brands, where he last served as executive vice president of sales and marketing for the Entertainment Publications division.
