BIKEABOUT

BikeAbout is an organization dedicated to bringing interactive and online technology and the safe practice of sports to bear in educational and cross-cultural exchange and the pursuit of peace and international cooperative understanding. BikeAbout has designed an intellectual, athletic and adventurous approach to promoting regional networks and world citizenship through the seemingly unrelated themes of virtual education, bicycling and the Internet. BikeAbout's inaugural expedition is BikeAbout-the Mediterranean, the first human-powered, land-bound, 'wired' circumnavigation of the Mediterranean Sea... In the interest of greater peace and cooperative understanding, BikeAbout, as its name implies, aims to increase awareness about and access to a world region and its people by bicycling around (or about) it, carrying, using and teaching about globally-linked computers at scheduled school visits and special events.
