Roopa Koshy

Roopa Koshy McCall is a passionate psychologist with an M.Phil. From the Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Prior to this, she recieved her M.Sc. in HR psychology from the University of Madras, India and B.Sc. Psychology from Women's Christian college, India. Experience At the start of her career, Roopa had briefly worked in the field of human resource development in India and was involved with multinational firms in the enhancement and understanding of employee performance and employee procurement. In 2012, Roopa joined Sultan Qaboos University. She was involved in transdisciplinary research and clinical assessment, treatment and management of a variety of mental health ailments. These include depression, anxiety, personality disorders, sexual disorders, gender dysphoria and developmental disorders. She is well versed with Cognitive behaviour therapy, transcultural psychotherapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy, systematic desensitisation and exposure response prevention behavior therapy (for OCD). Her specialisations vary across industrial psychology, clinical and counselling psychology, neuropsychology and psychological testing (IQ, personality, emotional, neuropsychiatry, cognitive and executive function) for adults and children. In addition to this, Roopa is a member of the World health organisation (WHO) global clinical practice network (GCPN) and has participated in the revision of the behavioral and mental disorders of ICD-11. She has been instrumental in the organisation of multiple mental health awareness events such as walkathons and international conferences in Oman and has been a speaker in conferences as well. She has co-authored a number of papers and is currently involved in research with family caregivers in Oman of patients with brain injury. Her vision is to provide enhanced mental health care services in Oman, utilising psychotherapy and psychological assessments.
