THE AMISH CRAFTSMAN - Key Persons

David Campbell

David Campbell: "I purchased my first chair from The Amish Craftsman about 3 years ago (the leather and wood recliner). It is so comfortable I often will doze off in it while watching TV. What impresses me more than the beauty, style, and comfort of the chair is the how well it is made and the quality of the materials used. I was unfortunate to have a house fire about 2 years ago. The smoke flames and water (from putting out the fire) damaged and destroyed all of my living room furniture except the Amish recliner I purchased. Not only did the wood hold up to all the water and smoke (no water stains and no swelling or splitting), but the leather covering did not absorb any smoke smell. As the fire clean up crew came to take away my antique furniture (all heavily damaged) and throw away my couch and other living room furniture that couldn't be salvaged, I just used a wash rag to wipe off my Amish chair and moved it directly into my rental house immediately. To me this shows the quality of their furniture and craftsmanship. I am now back in my rebuilt house and just put in my order for a full bedroom set and a fabulous entertainment center. The staff went above and beyond to help me figure out what would fit best in my house and were so kind when they heard about my tragedy. There are not many places you can go to these days where there is actual competent staff that care. Thanks to all the staff, and see you soon. --David" Marianne D: "This is the second time I have furnished a room through the Amish Craftsman. Your staff found the corner cabinet I bought and showed me the buffet which happened to be on the showroom floor. My furniture arrived before the house was ready, and Amish Craftsman stored it without charge. The delivery men are employees of the store and they were very nice. I appreciate the fact that one of them noticed that the light switch for the cabinet was at the back which was not good for a corner cabinet. He moved it before they left. I know it's easy to order online, but I kept thinking about what service would I have if there was problem. If I did pay more, I know I could not have bought better service."

Earliest settlement of the community was known as Cane Island, for Cane Island Creek that runs through it... A post office was opened in 1896, and even after the hurricane of 1900 that destroyed Galveston and also destroyed most of the buildings of Katy, it [was] rebuilt and continued to grow. Churches were formed and a school was built. The main industry was rice farming, but also peanuts and cotton. Katy Independent School District was formed in 1918, and a gas field was discovered in 1934. Many wells were dug, and this industry is still an important part of the city today.
