Mark J. Luebeck is an attorney and partner with the law firm of Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg. His law practice focuses on personal injury and insurance law and criminal defense. Mark was born in Butte, Montana and spent part of his childhood in Seattle, Washington before returning to Montana. He has lived in Montana ever since. Prior to attending college, he served as a volunteer firefighter for Racetrack Volunteer Fire Department in Butte, Montana responding to structural fires and emergency calls. He attended Montana Tech of The University of Montana where he received his bachelor's of science degree in Occupational Safety and Health with High Honors (3.98 cumulative GPA). He received his law degree from The University of Montana where he served as an assistant editor-in-chief of the Montana Law Review, was a member of the International Law Society and was elected vice magister of the legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi. During law school, he served as an intern for the United States District Court for the District of Montana and interned with The University of Montana Office of Legal Counsel. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Scribes Award for administrative achievement as a member of the Montana Law Review. Mark began his legal career serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Sam E. Haddon, United States District Court Judge, in Great Falls, Montana, a prestigious and highly competitive position within legal circles. During his clerkship, he was exposed to civil and criminal matters on a daily basis and observed and interacted with some of the best criminal defense attorneys in Montana, which solidified his interest in helping those accused of crimes by the all-powerful forces of the federal and state government. After his clerkship, Mark followed his passion for protecting individual rights and joined the Office of the State Public Defender in Bozeman, Montana as a trial lawyer. During his tenure with the public defender, he worked on countless felony and misdemeanor criminal cases and was awarded the Office of the State Public Defender's first annual "Rookie Public Defender of the Year" award. He left the Office of the State Public Defender in 2008 and was a partner with the law firm of Angel, Coil & Bartlett until February of 2024. Mark formed the law firm of Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg in 2024 with his current partners and continues to focus on personal injury and insurance matters and criminal defense. He is admitted to the State Bar of Montana, the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Montana Bar Association, the Montana Trial Lawyers Association, The National Trial Lawyers Top 100, the National College for DUI Defense, and the Gallatin County Bar Association. He is also a lifetime member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has a passion for all things political with a particular interest in individual rights. On his free time, Mark enjoys trail running, biking and winter sports with his wife, children and border collie and spends as much time as possible in Montana's Wilderness complexes. He is an avid runner and has completed numerous ultra marathons across the U.S., including the 240 mile long Moab 240 in 2024. Mark became a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in 2016. The National Trial Lawyers is a professional organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from across the country who exemplify superior qualifications as civil plaintiff or criminal defense trial lawyers. Mark was a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 from 2012 through 2015 for both civil and criminal practice prior to becoming a NTL Top 100 Trial Lawyer. The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 is a professional organization comprised of America's top young trial attorneys. Membership is by invitation only and is extended exclusively to those trial lawyers practicing civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense law. Invitees must exemplify superior qualifications, trial results, and leadership as a young lawyer under the age of 40. Mark is a Life Member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers is an organization of attorneys formed to ensure justice and due process for persons accused of crimes; to foster the integrity, independence, and expertise of those who represent persons accused of crimes; and to promote the proper and fair administration of justice.

Ryan D. McCarty

Ryan D. McCarty has practiced law in Bozeman, Montana since 2006. He became a partner at Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg in 2015. Ryan graduated from Montana State University-Bozeman in 1998 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. In between his undergraduate studies and law school he spent two summers working as a fishing guide in Alaska, in both Katmai National Park and Kodiak Island. He also spent a considerable amount of time travelling in the western U.S., Southeast Asia, Mexico, and Central America. Mr. McCarty then moved to Washington, D.C., where he was employed as a paid intern with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. In 2002 Ryan returned to Montana to attend the University of Montana School of Law in Missoula where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2005. While in law school he was selected to be a member of the Jessup International Moot Court team, where he first developed an interest in oral advocacy and trial work. He also interned at the United States District Court in Missoula with the Honorable Leif Erickson, Federal Magistrate Judge. Ryan was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.39. After graduating from law school and obtaining his law license Ryan spent approximately one and a half years in private practice as an associate with Redmon Law Firm in Bozeman where his work focused primarily on transactional work and civil litigation, including real property disputes and family law matters. Ryan then served 4 years with the Montana Office of the State Public Defender practicing criminal defense in Gallatin County Justice Court, Bozeman Municipal Court, Belgrade City Court, Gallatin County District Court, and Gallatin County Youth Court. While working as a public defender he gained invaluable experience defending people accused of both misdemeanors and felonies, including such crimes as DUI, vehicular assault, assault, domestic violence, drug possession, theft, and attempted deliberate homicide. Ryan gained extensive jury trial experience, taking over 20 cases to verdict. In 2009 he was awarded the Public Defender Excellence Award for Region 8. Prior to joining Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg Ryan was employed by the City of Bozeman, where he served as a prosecutor in Bozeman Municipal Court for 3 years. Ryan was lead prosecutor in 30 misdemeanor jury trials and hundreds of judge trials involving all types of misdemeanor charges including minor traffic offenses, DUI, assault, trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, drug possession and theft. Ryan was acting as the interim chief prosecutor at the time his employment with the City ended. During his free time he enjoys fly-fishing, floating Montana's rivers, fly tying, bird hunting, hiking, camping, running, and spending time as much time as possible with his daughter and bird dog. Ryan is devoted to ensuring that people know their rights and enjoys the opportunity to serve those in the Bozeman community and beyond. Ryan and the team at Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg are dedicated to making a change in the lives of individuals they represent and the families they serve. Timothy Hammar began practicing law in 2008 with Angel, Coil & Bartlett and is currently a partner at Luebeck, Hammar, McCarty & Goldwarg law firm. In 2017, Mr. Hammar was named to the list of ‘America's Top 100 Attorneys' and received its Lifetime Achievement award. In 2012, 2013, and 2015 Mr. Hammar was recognized as one of the top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Hammar's law practice focuses primarily on estate administration and probate, estate and trust litigation, estate planning, personal injury and wrongful death cases. He also advises clients in matters of civil litigation, real estate transactions, and Montana business, employment, and contractual law.
