The Police Department is also responsible for the operation of the communications center. This consists of four Communications Specialists, one part-time Communication Specialist, and three reserve Communications Specialists. The communications center is equipped with the latest technology including E911 and EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) and all Specialists must be state certified. The communications center handles both radio and telephone traffic primarily for the police, and fire departments, and secondarily for the light, highway, water, and cemetery departments and is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
