Adri Isbister

An experienced board director and senior executive, Adri has contributed to the corporate, health and disability sector for over 25 years. She holds to the vision that primary health care is accessible and equitable to all New Zealanders. Adri recently returned to Hawke's Bay after finishing her role as a Deputy Director General (Disability) in the Ministry of Health. Adri's career as a CEO has provided extensive experience in the management of large budgets, projects, acquisitions, and business growth. A community person, Adri is particularly interested in continuing to add value to the Hawke's Bay community, strategically plan best outcomes, grow business and develop people. A member of the Institute of Directors, Adri has held many governance roles over the last three decades. From sporting entities, NGOs, corporates, health and disability, and in particular the primary health care sector. Adri holds various qualifications, the recipient of several business excellence awards, particularly an executive MBA (Massey University). Adri strives to the belief that leadership is influential, a privilege, and can inspire people to perform to their greatest possibilities and to work to the highest standards with accountability and integrity. I am inspired daily by the innovations of the communities we serve, my family, my children, and my grandchildren.

I am currently employed as Chief Executive Wharariki Trust and hold a number of governance roles. I whakapapa to Ngāti Kahungunu. I have worked for a number of years in the area of population health, including co-managing a Primary Health Organisation for Ngāti Toa. I am passionate about setting a strategic vision that will empower communities and whānau to self-determine their health care needs and how these needs will be met.

Brendan Duck

Brendan grew up in Rotorua, moving to Hawke's Bay in 2011 to an innovative role in general practice as a clinical pharmacist, becoming a director of the practice in 2015. Brendan studied Pharmacy at Otago University, with post-graduate study in Clinical Pharmacy, Primary Healthcare, and Pharmacist Prescribing. My most recent roles included being a pharmacist prescriber in long-term conditions and an ongoing role as System Lead for Medicines at Te Whatu Ora, Te Matau a Māui. Brendan has widespread experience across primary care and pharmacy, prior to coming to Hawke's Bay, Brendan owned a community pharmacy in Taranaki for 8 years. The innovative work in general practice Brendan has been involved with has received recognition nationally for its integrated approach, medicine safety, and equity of health outcomes. Brendan has a strong interest in enhancing health and wellbeing through interprofessional collaboration, with a particular focus on working alongside Māori and Pacific to help them achieve Pae ora - healthy futures.

Recognised as a high-performing leader, currently employed as Chief Executive, Eastern and Central Community Trust (ECCT). Successful in achieving significant community and business objectives through effectively communicating, facilitating conversations, and developing partnerships. Strategic public and private sector leader recognised for developing strategy and achieving outstanding results in profit, growth, partnerships, and business development. Capable of navigating governance and management through complex issues by applying integrated strategic planning, business development, and relationship-building approach.

Ko Diane Koti taku ingoa, mauri ora. I am of the East Coast and Waikato regions but I was born, raised, schooled, and currently reside in Hastings, Hawkes Bay. My health career began in 2007 with my primary interest areas being Māori health and mental health. I am currently seconded to Te Aka Whai Ora - Māori Health Authority to assist with the establishment of the Oranga Hinengaro arm of the organisation and my substantive role is the National Manager Kaupapa Māori Practice with Corrections. I look forward to being a part of Health Hawkes Bays' drive for equitable hauora outcomes and overall wellbeing for our communities

Dr. Darran Lowes

Director; Board Chair; Board Health and Safety representative Dr. Darran Lowes is a general practitioner and practice owner at Taradale Medical Centre. He was appointed to the Health Hawke's Bay board in 2020 and sits on the Clinical Advisory and Governance committee. He is also a Faculty Member of the Hawke's Bay chapter of the Royal NZ College of GPs. He hopes to see the relationships between the PHO and primary care continue to grow, building upon the agility shown during the response to COVID-19. When he isn't at work he can be found baking bread or working towards his private pilot's license at the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club

Fiona Thomson

Fiona has a background in accounting, financial services and information systems and has been in executive management positions within primary care for 20 years. Other industries she has worked in include finance, pulp and timber, meat processing and local government. Fiona has a particular interest in the information platforms underpinning clinical service delivery and integrated care. She was influential in the development of the GP2GP electronic file transfer service, the Integrated Performance and Incentive Framework (now Systems Level Measures), the NZ ePrescription Service and the National Enrolment Service. She was a founding Director of Patients First Ltd, the NZ quality and information programme for integrated care and a former chair of the NZ Primary Care Patient Experience Survey governance group.

Henry Heke

The Health Hawke's Bay team has welcomed Henry Heke into the role of Group Manager Māori Health. Henry has accepted a 12-month secondment whilst still continuing with his role at HBDHB as Head of Intersector and Special Projects. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Henry spearheaded the Tihei Mauri Ora Emergency Response Centre to support Hawke's Bay Māori and Pasifika communities which extended to include the Multi-cultural Association. His team made sure whānau pounamu (vulnerable families) received welfare support which included food parcels, clothing, and firewood deliveries. Henry spent 15 years with Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry for Māori Development) as a Māori Business Growth Advisor before moving into health. Henry's appointment will enable Health Hawke's Bay and HBDHB to work collaboratively and share the vision of ‘whānau ora, hapori ora' (healthy families, healthy communities). Henry is passionate about te reo and tikanga, supporting kaupapa Māori practices at Health Hawke's Bay.

Jonathan Bell

Hailing from Central Otago, Jonathan has had a varied career over the past 40 years holding senior management roles in a number of different industries including marketing, banking, Finance & Credit and the Not-for-Profit Sector. Married to Deb, they have two adult children, both residing in Hawkes Bay and have lived here for the past 25 years. Jonathan has a passion for his community in particular improving opportunities for our Rangatahi through better health services and education.

Jude McRae

Jude has an extensive administrative background in the health sector, having previously worked with ACC and District Health Boards, as well as private hospital, laboratory, disability, allied health, primary care, and residential care facilities. Jude has been with the organisation since 2021 and provides a proactive and dedicated executive level of support to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. Jude is a loyal and dedicated Health Hawke's Bay team member and plays a pivotal role across the organisation. She is passionate about our values and is known for taking the time to recognise, and quietly acknowledge, the achievements of others. She is enjoying her Te Reo Māori journey and strives to expand her learnings each day. Born in Taranaki, but raised mainly in Taupō and Whanganui, Hawke's Bay has been Jude's home ground for the past 18 years. She is married with two adult children in their 20s and loves the beach, the lake, reading, walking, yoga, bowling and socialising with whānau and friends.
