Dr. John Mah grew up in Southern Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelors with Distinction of Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1992. He completed a rotating internship at the Victoria General Hospital in 1993, after which he received his qualifications to practice medicine in BC. From 1993 to 1996, Dr. Mah was in training to be an oncologist with the BC Cancer Agency, but decided to return to family medicine and, in 1998, completed his family medicine residency with UBC at the Prince George program site. Dr. Mah remained in Prince George and, from 1998 to 2014, had become a well-respected family physician serving his Prince George patients, treating cancer patients at the Prince George Regional Cancer Centre, caring for students at the University of Northern BC Wellness Clinic, and acting as a preceptor for medical students enrolled at the University of Northern BC Medical School. In 2008, Dr. Mah began training in the field of aesthetic medicine, and by 2010 opened the Nova MD Laser & Vein Clinic in Prince George. In 2012, Dr. Mah began treating varicose veins using sclerotherapy after completing a mentorship under Dr. Mandy Wong, one of the most respected and experienced vein specialists in Western Canada. In 2014, Dr. Mah closed his family practice to focus solely on aesthetic medicine and diagnosing/treating varicose veins. That year, he also expanded his varicose vein practice by joining Dr. Mandy Wong at her highly successful vein and skin practice in Kelowna. In 2015, Dr. Mah completed the requirements to become a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Phlebology, and uses his training regularly to treat varicose vein patients in both Kelowna and Prince George. That year, Dr. Mah also developed skills in the field of dermoscopy which he uses everyday in seeing skin cancer patients of all types at his practice with Dr. Mandy Wong in Kelowna. Dr. Mah continues to practice in both Prince George and Kelowna. In Prince George, he sees patients at Nova MD. In Kelowna, he sees patients at Restore Vein and Skin Centre. Currently, Dr. Mah is a member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Phlebology, the American College of Phlebology, the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the BC Medical Association, the Canadian Medical Association, the Canadian College of Family Physicians, and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC.
