PERAMBALUR District was trifurcated from the erstwhile Tiruchirrappali District and was formed in 1995 as per G.O.Ms.No.913 revenue (Y3) dated 30th August 1995. Subsequently in 2002 Perambalur district was bifurcated into Perambalur and Ariyalur. Again the Perambalur and Ariyalur district were merged as Perambalur District with Head quarters at Peramabalur with effect from 19.04.2002. Again Ariyalur District has been carved out from Perambalur District as per G.O.Ms.No.683 revenue (RA1) dated 19.11.2007. A New District Industries Centre Office is now functioning from Ariyalur from 18.5.2012
