I got my start as a karaoke singer back in 1997 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. I fell in love with the pastime immediately. As a voice major at Viterbo University I enjoyed the challenge of singing obscure and interesting songs, and was well received. I was often frustrated however by certain quirks of the trade. Some karaoke jockeys or KJs would let their friends sing more often than other people. Some would allow the same song to be sung multiple times in the same night. Some would sing multiple songs themselves while patrons were kept waiting. And almost all of them pad their song books with duplicate songs. I decided that instead of entrusting my evening to the whims of such people I would start this business and run a better quality show.
