Andrew Cross is joining Grass Valley as the company's new CEO following the departure of Tim Shoulders last November.
Cross joins Grass Valley from Vizrt where he was president of global research and development. Cross also served as CEO of NewTek before the company was acquired by Vizrt.
At Grass Valley, Cross will lead the company through what it describes as the next phase to power the digital transformation of its customers and support them as they transition to the future of media and entertainment through IP, software, and cloud-based technologies.
"I am honoured to be joining Grass Valley at such an exciting time. Our mission is to be the leader in the transition towards software-based technologies - both on-prem and as media companies move into the cloud," said Cross.

James Poole has joined Televideo as the company's new chief operating officer.
Poole has over 15 years of experience in the outside broadcasting industry and joins Televideo from Timeline Television where he was most recently senior commercial manager.
Jenny has worked in the media throughout her career, joining TVBEurope as editor in 2017. She has also been an entertainment reporter, interviewing everyone from Kylie Minogue to Tom Hanks; as well as spending a number of years working in radio. She continues to appear on radio every week and occasionally pops up on TV.
Jim Kirkland has been appointed senior vice president of global delivery and support. "I look forward to elevating Grass Valley's excellent reputation for customer service even further as we transform our Delivery and Support structure and continue to help our customers and partners succeed," he said.
Tim Banks has been promoted to chief revenue officer. He most recently worked for the company as VP of sales EMEA at Grass Valley and has been in the interim CRO role for the past six months. "I'm very proud of GV's past and very excited by our future as we continue to help our customers create new revenue streams and drive operational efficiencies, leading the way through the media and entertainment industry's ongoing digital transformation," said Banks.
