HARMONIOUS CIRCLE PRESS

In 1983 the Harmonious Circle Press (HCP) was established in Venice Beach, California in a single one room apartment overlooking the boardwalk. Meetings were being held there by Gustave Ridley, senior member of a small group, with intellectuals and artists who discussed metaphysics, art, theater and writing. Under the editorial leadership of Dr. Jean Campbell, Ridley's first book, From Boredom to Bliss, was published by HCP in collaboration with Beyond Baroque, a community cultural arts center in Venice Beach. The following year, his second book, Confessions of an X-Guru, was also published. With support from the Los Angeles Cultural Arts Commission, HCP moved to Playa del Rey in 1992 and continued to promote new talent in the arts such as the 1992 art and poetry exhibits throughout Los Angeles called "People Say I'm Crazy".
