Dr Gary Cross

Dr Matthew Laugharne

Dr Matthew Laugharne obtained and Honours Degree in Medicine from the University of Bristol with an intercalated First Class Degree in Molecular and Cellular Pathology. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (London) before training in Radiology at the Severn School of Radiology and obtaining his Fellowship from the Royal College of Radiologists. Dr. Adrian Andreou

Dr. Andrea Phillips

Andrea Phillips is a Consultant Radiologist with subspecialty interests in Abdominal Imaging and Interventional Radiology. Andrea qualified from the University of London and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians prior to undertaking Radiology training in Oxford, with a final year of subspecialty training as a Fellow in Abdominal Imaging and Intervention in Vancouver, Canada. Andrea has been a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal United Hospital Bath since 1999. Specialist interests include the imaging of the small bowel with CT and MRI, CT Colonography, Abdominal MRI, Gynaecological Imaging and Abdominal Intervention. Andrea also has a keen interest in Education, having been Radiology Lead for the University of Bristol Medical School, External Examiner for the Oxford University MSc in Diagnostic Imaging and Education Secretary for the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiologists (BSGAR). She teaches and lectures nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for Clinical Radiology and the British Journal of Radiology, participates in National Trials in Abdominal imaging and Intervention and is the RUH lead for Radiology AI research in conjunction with the National Consortium of Intelligent Medical Imaging (NCIMI). Andrea was the Gastrointestinal Expert Lead for the last two reviews of the Royal College of Radiologists Referral Guidelines, was President of BSGAR from 2012-2014 and Clinical Lead for the RUH Radiology department 2016-2020.

Dr. Ben Hudson

Dr. Ben Hudson qualified from University College London in 2004. Ben undertook Clinical Radiology training initially at Southampton University Hospital in 2009, followed by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital training scheme from 2010. Following successful completion of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists examination in 2012, Ben completed subspecialty training in cardiothoracic imaging at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Papworth Hospital in 2013/14. In 2015, Ben was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. His major interests are cardiac imaging (with accreditation in cardiac CT and cardiac MRI) and thoracic imaging with a particular interest in lung cancer imaging.

Dr. Caroline Styles

Dr. Caroline Styles trained at Cambridge University and The Royal London Hospital, then obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, before specialising in Radiology. She completed a two year fellowship in cross sectional imaging in Perth, Australia before being appointed as a Consultant in Bath in 2001. Caroline is a Cross-sectional Radiologist with special interests in both Chest and Head and Neck radiology. She is a member of the Royal College of Radiologists, Society of Head and Neck Radiologists and the British Thoracic Society. She is involved in departmental teaching of both medical students and doctors, including radiology trainees, and is an examiner both for medical school finals and on a final FRCR teaching course.

Dr. Diana Dalgliesh

Dr Diana Dalgliesh, MB ChB, DCH, MRCGP is an Associate Specialist Breast Clinician at the RUH. 

Dr Dalgliesh graduated in 1989 from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. 
 She lived and worked in Paris for a couple of years before moving to the UK in 1995 where she trained as a GP. She began working at the RUH as a Clinical Assistant in the Breast Surgical clinic in 1998 whilst also working as a GP. 

In 2002 she left general practice to take up a specialist post in the RUH Breast Unit specialising in diagnostic breast imaging and leadership of the Family History Breast Service.

She was awarded the Certificate in Breast Evaluation in 2009 and in 2011 joined the NHS Breast Screening Programme based in Bristol.

Dr. Dominic Fay

Dr Dominic Fay trained in radiology in Newcastle upon Tyne and undertook a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology in Vancouver, Canada before being appointed as a consultant in Bath in 2005. His major clinical interests are in vascular and interventional radiology and he has led the development of the Bath fibroid embolisation service. He is a training programme director for the Severn school of radiology as well as being the local tutor for the Royal College of Radiologists.

Dr. Graham Robinson

Job Titles:

Graham qualified at St. Thomas' Hospital, London in 1996. He trained in radiology at St. George's Hospital, London. In 2004 he spent a year at McMaster University in Canada on a Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship, returning to the UK to start his Consultant post at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. His major areas of interest are musculoskeletal, sports and chest imaging. He is a member of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists and the British Society of Thoracic Imaging. He also works at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Disease. With his musculoskeletal colleagues he performs imaging and intervention for all sports, musculoskeletal and rheumatological disorders. He provides services to elite sports persons, including Bath Rugby and athletes from the English Institute of Sport. Within chest imaging he has specific interests in interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. John Hardman

Dr John Hardman trained in London and Cardiff. His main interests are vascular and interventional radiology. He has led the development of a large endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) programme in Bath and has the largest personal series of EVARs in the south west of England. After further specialised training in Australia in 2008 John introduced fenestrated and branched EVAR at Bath, which is now a leading UK centre for complex aortic aneurysm repair with cases referred from the South West of England and South Wales. He supervises and mentors EVARs at multiple centres in the UK and Europe and organises EVAR workshops in Bath for European clinicians 3 times a year. He teaches at the UK interventional radiology courses, UK Embolisation meeting, the European Vascular Course and at the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Europe annual meeting. He regularly speaks at, and chairs, scientific sessions at national and international meetings. His research interests include complex aortic aneurysm management and he has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters as a consultant.

Dr. Kelly MacDonald

Dr Kelly MacDonald read Anatomy and Medicine at University College London and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, prior to specialising in Radiology. Kelly completed her training at the Severn School of Radiology, Bristol, and undertook a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada, prior to her appointment as a Consultant Radiologist in Bath. Her major clinical interests include cross sectional and ultrasound imaging of abdominal and pelvic disorders, including Transvaginal Ultrasound, CT Colonography and MRI of the Liver, Small Bowel and Pelvis. Kelly has also been instrumental in setting up and running the Pelvic Floor Imaging Service, which uses MRI to assess functional disorders of the pelvic floor, including pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and obstructed defecation. Kelly is also involved in medical education, and has been part of a team facilitating the integration of Radiology into the undergraduate anatomy curriculum at the University of Bristol Medical School. In addition she is also an Academic Mentor to the universities medical students.

Dr. Louise Robinson

Dr Louise Robinson qualified from King's College Hospital, London and trained in Radiology at Guy's Hospital London and the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia. She spent a specialist year as a Clinical Lecturer in the MRI department at Guys' hospital. Louise was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal United Hospital, Bath in 1996 to set up and lead the new MRI Unit. Her special interests are Neuroradiology and all aspects of Paediatric Imaging including Paediatric Oncology. She is currently involved in the acute stroke imaging service and leads the Bath Paediatric Imaging Service, with a particular interest in radiation dose reduction in children. Louise teaches Radiology Trainees and Medical students and is a Finals Examiner for the University of Bristol Medical School.

Dr. Marianna Thomas

Marianna Thomas is a Consultant Radiologist with subspecialty interests in musculoskeletal, sports and trauma imaging. Marianna qualified from University College London with distinction in 2005, having obtained an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Medicine. After training in Radiology in the East Midlands Deanery, she undertook a year-long fellowship subspecialising in Musculoskeletal Radiology at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. In 2013, Marianna was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal United Hospital, and also works at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Disease. In addition to general radiology, she performs imaging and imaging-guided intervention for sports, musculoskeletal and rheumatological disorders. Breast Imaging provided by breast imaging specialists - dedicated exclusively to breast cancer diagnosis and other breast problems, both symptomatic and screening

Dr. Richard Graham

Professor Richard Graham is a Consultant Radiologist practicing general radiology with subspecialist expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology, sports imaging and nuclear medicine. Richard regularly undertakes medicolegal instructions for radiology cases. He is Deputy Medical Director of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and head of radiology training for the Severn region. Richard is a Visiting Professor in Health & Applied Sciences at the University of West of England, Bristol. He leads the nuclear medicine community in the UK as President of the British Nuclear Medicine Society. He is a council member (and past president) of the Radiology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. Richard studied at the Universities of Cambridge (graduating with first class honors) and Oxford. He trained in radiology in Oxford and was awarded the Constance Thornton Fellowship in 2008 by the Royal College of Radiologists to undertake a visiting fellowship at Stanford University Medical Centre, California. He has undertaken training in leadership and management and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. Richard is an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve where he has been Head of Medical Branch and Commanding Officer of HMS Flying Fox in Bristol. He has deployed twice as a Consultant Radiologist to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.

Dr. Stewart Redman

Dr Stewart Redman trained in Radiology in Southampton and took a leading role as Chair of the Junior Radiology Forum at The Royal college of Radiologists. He was appointed a Consultant in Bath in 2007. He is a Clinical Lead in Nuclear Medicine and he has set up several new services including 3D bone scans, 3D V/Q (lung) scans and DAT (dementia/parkinsons) scans. His radiological interests include Head and Neck and Gastrointestinal Radiology. He is a keen medical educator having obtained his Post Graduate Certificate of Medical Education in 2007. He teaches medical students, radiology registrars and more recently is leading training of the Accident and Emergency staff in CT.

Dr. Toby Hall

Dr Toby Hall trained in radiology at St George's Hospital in London with subsequent specialist training in oncological radiology at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London and Surrey. He was appointed as a consultant in Bath in 2001. His major clinical interests are in oncological and chest radiology and he has led the development of CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI in Bath. He is an expert panel member for the Royal College of Radiologists ‘Making the Best Use of Clinical Radiology Services' publications, department lead for research and development and for the South West Radiologists Association, hospital lead for clinical work experience and an examiner for University of Bristol Medical School.
