Job Titles:
- Physical Therapist / Yoga Instructor
An Iowa native, I grew up riding my bike, playing on the jungle gym at my family acreage and playing sports. I headed to Iowa State to become a health teacher; but receiving PT after a knee injury, I decided to become a physical therapist. I graduated with a BS in Psychology and an MPT from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
After neck and back surgeries, I began pilates in 2006 as a way to move more easily. I completed the Stott Pilates Rehab training, bought a reformer for home and started classes at Rivercity Pilates. With an interest in holistic health, I pursued certifications in Integrative Health through the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Pain Neuroscience Education, Health and Well Being Coach trained at Duke Health. I completed a 200 hour yoga certification and yin yoga certification.
Kimberly has a degree in Communications, with minors in English and Art and is certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Kimberly discovered Rivercity Pilates in March 2012 as part of her lifelong search for exercise that worked & avoided injuries, while still being able to hold her attention. (Not an easy task!)
After exploring several locations, Kimberly was impressed by Rivercity's dedication to individual attention and its small class sizes. The warm and cheerful nature of the studio then won her over completely.

I began practicing yoga 2x/day (not a typo) years ago and quickly fell in love with it. I used to think yoga was only for the very young and very flexible. I would conjure up images of twisted poses, chanting, and strange music. I could not have been more incorrect! Yoga is beyond accessible to anyone. I found practicing yoga regularly, whether at home or at the local studio helped calm my nerves, relax my mind, and serve immeasurable benefits to my general health and fitness. There is nothing more rewarding to me than simply attending a yoga class.
