Start Network was born in 2010. Sparked from informal conversations between humanitarian leaders from aid agencies who were frustrated by the challenges they faced. Governments were struggling to adapt quickly enough to tackle global problems, such as climate change, and increasingly violent conflict, which were driving ever larger numbers of people to flee from their homes... The Start Network is developing and testing two new financing instruments that aim to deploy funds in a faster, more efficient way to civil society responders. The first instruments being tested, aim to protect communities at risk of major droughts... Start Network is made up of more than 50 humanitarian agencies across five continents, ranging from large international organisations to national NGOs. Together, our aim is to transform humanitarian action through innovation, fast funding, early action, and locally led action.
