Most guitar builders use silver/nickel fretwire. It's easy to work with, but it's it's relatively soft. Gold EVO is much harder and therefore harder to work with as a builder, but it wears much better than standard nickel fretwire. Copper is part of it's makeup which gives it the gold color, it doesn't actually contain gold just as silver/nickel frets don't contain silver. The composition of the Gold EVO frets doesn't effect the tone of the guitar in anyway. It just lasts longer.
