As a prosthodontist, Dr. Sawa has expertise in working with dental phobic patients, medically compromised patients and has a reputation for creating oral reconstructions utilizing dental implants procedures, crowns, veneers, and all types of removable dentures.
Dr. Sawa has earned her Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Sciences at Saint John's University. After college, she was accepted into Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where she earned her DDS with many awards and accomplishments.
Following this, she completed a rigorous hospital residency at University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. Dr. Sawa pursued training in the dental specialty of Prosthodontics. She was accepted into the Advanced Graduate Program at UMDNJ School of Dentistry and completed her residency training and specialty certificate including implant surgery. These 4 years of additional specialty training as a prosthodontist give her the ability to analyze and correct challenging dental problems.
Dr. Sawa is an expert in dental implant restorations, which can make a big difference in your life and how you feel. If you have a missing tooth, a single-unit implant can be used to avoid damaging adjacent healthy teeth, which would be cut down if a bridge were made.
Dr. Starace graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Science from the University of Rochester.
After graduating from college, he worked for TES Environmental Corp in Rochester, NY, as a project monitor. It was at this time he began volunteering at a dental office that provided care for an underserved community in Rochester, NY.
After earning his DDS, Dr. Starace stayed at Stony Brook for three more years to complete an Advanced Education Program in Periodontics.
Dr. Starace splits his time between dental implant practice and academia as Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. There he provides clinical instruction to dental students and residents in the specialty of Periodontology for their patients' needs.
Dr. Starace is board certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery by The American Board of Periodontology. He focuses on the nonsurgical, surgical, and laser treatment of periodontal disease, bone and soft tissue grafting, and dental implant surgery.

Dr. Navid Rahmani graduated Cum Laude from New York University before receiving his doctoral degree from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Rahmani then chose to remain at Stony Brook for an additional three years to become certified in the specialty of periodontology. At Stony Brook, he was awarded the John Oppie McCall Award for demonstrating exemplary dedication and proficiency in the art and science of Periodontology.
He is the editor for the Academy of Osseointegration, contributing to the dialogue on issues important to implant dentistry, and the teacher at the New York Hospital, Dental and Oral Medicine Department of Prosthodontics. He joined the AO in 2014 and served on numerous committees before becoming the editor of the Academy News.
Implantologist Dr. Rahmani is leading the team of implant dentists. He is also a regular contributor to several news outlets, where he discusses the most recent research on dental implants surgery and periodontal disease treatment.
