Michelle has a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Honors Bachelor Degree in Political Science from University of Toronto. During her time in law school, Michelle interned with Legal Aid Cambodia - a non profit organization dedicated to providing legal services for low income communities. Michelle worked predominantly with women and advocated for an end to violence against women, sexual tourism and sexual assault. Michelle also summered at the Human Rights Legal Support Center in the legal department by assisting persons who faced discrimination contrary to the Ontario Human Rights Code. Before starting with Mattis Law, Michelle participated in the Feminist Advocacy Program through Osgoode Hall and volunteered with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic. While engaging with feminist works, Michelle worked alongside survivors of domestic violence in the Family Law Division. At Mattis Law, Michelle is an advocate in the family law department, dealing with both domestic and child protection matters at the Ontario and Superior Court of Justice. She has dealt with court applications, motions, conference(s) pursuant to the Family Law Act (FLA), Children Law Reform Act (CLRA), Divorce Act (DA) and Children Youth Family Services Act (CYFSA). Michelle is committed to assisting vulnerable communities in achieving access to justice. She decided to join Mattis Law because of its close ties with marginalized communities and their strong reputation for advocacy.

Nakita Kelsey

Nakita obtained her undergraduate degree at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She achieved a Bachelor's of Arts and graduated with Honours. Her major was law with a strong statistics background. I was accepted to Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. I started my legal career with Mattis Law Professional Corporation as an Articling Student. I have a vast range of experience in conducting bail hearings, crown pre-trials, judicial pre-trials, preliminary hearings, pleas ad sentencings. I have worked on cases including: assault, aggravated assault, dangerous weapons, assault with a weapon, theft, fraud, possession on the purposes of trafficking, breach, attempted murder, murder, animal cruelty, mischief, break and enter, robbery, uttering threats, advertising sexual services, and an array of gun and drug offences. I have experience in Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice (High Court), addictions court, mental health court, youth court, and federal court. I became a lawyer to fight for my client's rights. At Mattis Law Professional Corporation we bring any and all applications to ensure that our clients were dealt with in accordance with their rights. I have brought an abundance of applications including; third party record application, Rowbotham application, Charter applications, Garofoli applications, Applications to have a speedy trial, and Certiorari applications.
