NIKOS PAPANGELIS

Nikos Papangelis was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He studied history and archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and was introduced to photography at Stereosis. He also holds an MA in filmmaking (specialised in cinematography) from Goldsmiths, University of London. Since 2012 he has been based in Athens, working freelance as a cinematographer, while he recently completed his postgraduate studies in photography and visual language at AKTO, having been awarded the "Alkis Xanthakis" scholarship. By incorporating the medium of photography, moving image and installation in his artistic practice, he attempts to develop a unique relationship with these media, both in terms of form and content, without submitting their use to the claims of objectivity asserted by representation.
