Amanda Lee

Amanda Lee, Doctor of Physical Therapy, is a native of Chapel Hill and recently moved to Durham. A multi-sport high school athlete, she played basketball, soccer, tennis, and ran track. Dr. Lee graduated from Eckerd College as a basketball scholar in 2006 with a degree in Psychology. She also played semi-pro basketball with the RDU Flames in 2009. A life-long student of martial arts, Dr. Lee taught karate and practiced as a mixed martial artist. She later returned to school at Mary Baldwin University and earned her Doctorate from the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences in Staunton, VA. Dr. Lee enjoys working with athletes of all ages and is passionate about helping people regain lost function and mobility. In her free time, she enjoys Jiu Jitsu, hiking with her dog, mountain biking, rollerblading, and spending time with friends and family.

Heather M. Smith

Heather Smith, Doctor of Physical Therapy, joins the Performance Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine team from Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Smith graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008 with her degree in Exercise and Sport Science, and then earned her Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Following her degrees, Dr. Smith was one of a small percentage of graduates to undergo additional Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine sub-specialization with Proaxis Therapy, a nationally accredited Orthopaedic Residency Program. Proaxis Therapy is affiliated with the renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic, a national leader in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. After her residency, she continued to work with Proaxis as a full time therapist. She has received extensive training in General Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine and post-operative rehabilitation of the upper and lower extremities. She is passionate about helping people feel better, move better and return to their desired level of function. In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time outdoors, endurance training, and being with her family and friends.

Milan M. DiGiulio

Dr. Milan DiGiulio founded Performance Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in 2009 with a mission to provide the highest quality Orthopaedic care with uncompromising attention to patient satisfaction and outcomes. Dr. DiGiulio is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. DiGiulio proudly serves as the Head Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the North Carolina Courage women's professional soccer team. Dr. DiGiulio specializes in Sports Medicine in children, teens and adults. Dr. DiGiulio is an expert in Arthroscopy surgery of the Shoulder and Knee including Labrum, Rotator Cuff Tears, ACL and Meniscus Tears. Dr. DiGiulio also provides his patients with non-surgical treatment options including the use of biologics, or Orthobiologics, using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.
