SECOND HARVEST

The Kitchen at Second Harvest provides essential nutrition education and cooking classes to those in need. Second Harvest is the leading hunger relief organization in the Inland Northwest, distributing 26 million pounds of free food each week to food banks, meal sites and other programs feeding people in need... But providing groceries isn't always enough when people don't know how to prepare and use the food they receive. Many times over the years, we've heard people we serve say they aren't sure how to cook things like fresh fruits and vegetables. Meanwhile, rates of obesity and diabetes are on the rise, especially for low-income families... For every dollar donated, we are able to provide five meals to a family in need.
