The RYA was initially established in 1875 to standardize Yachting and Sail training and ensure that competitions were run fairly with a single set of rules. It soon became obvious that the RYA would become the World leader in Yacht Training and Powerboat Training. The main AIM of both the RYA and JLSYTI is to deliver SAFE, PROFESSIONAL training to try to make water users safer.
