PORTLAND HOUSING AUTHORITY

Founded in 1974 the Portland Housing Authority is a quasi-independent agency (this is Not a Municipal Government agency). As in the case of all housing authorities, the authority and direction are provided by the Board of Commissioners, the Members of which are appointed to overlapping five-year terms by the Portland Board of Selectmen. Functioning as the Executive Director is Allen Harrison who is responsible for the daily operations of the Housing Authority... Our agency's mission is to provide a stable foundation for opportunities, growth and development in a living environment free of discrimination. We believe that by fostering strong communities and promoting residents' self-sufficiency we can help improve the lives of the families we serve... All Portland Housing Authority offices remain open, however, we are currently closed to all walk-in traffic. We are meeting in person by appointment only.
