The first historical account about the Springs dates back to 400 B.C. and proves that it was already known by the Romans. They dedicated the springs to Venus, marking the connection between the goddess and the vital element of water. Today, a sculpture stands among the water streams to witness this peculiar symbolism. The first written evidence about the Springs dates back to 50 A.D. In his De Re Rustica, Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella, a Roman writer living at the time of Seneca, celebrated the water of Guarcino, the place where Roman legions stopped to heal the wounds they had suffered during their campaign in the East. «Est in Guarceno Campaniae fluens aqua montibus oriunda, salubritati corporis accomodatissima» (in Guarcino, Campania, there is a kind of water gushing from the nearby mountains which is highly recommended for the health of the body). Bottled and distributed since 1894, Acqua Filette was awarded in that same year at an international exhibition on Medicine in Rome...
