The Class 58 Locomotive Group (C58LG) is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and celebrating the iconic British Rail Class 58 locomotives. Since their introduction in the 1980s, these distinctive locomotives have earned a special place in the hearts of rail enthusiasts and the Railway sector. Our mission is to preserve the legacy of the Class 58 for future generations. With only a limited number of these locos surviving into preservation, our efforts are focused on these remaining few locomotives and ensuring they live on for future generations... The Class 58 Locomotive Group was established in July 2001, when Class 58 locomotives began disappearing from the UK rail network. The group was founded to promote the significance of this historic type of heavy freight locomotive, the last class of diesel engines built by British Rail.
