INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY

The date of establishment of the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera "Torlak" is considered to be October 24, 1924, when the Ministry of Public Health of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes passed the Rulebook on the establishment and organization of the Central Institute of Hygiene in Belgrade, which included Serovaccinal department that started working in the new building on Torlak Hill in 1930. In 1959, the Serovaccinal Department established the Institute for Sera and Vaccines, which in 1962 changed its name to the Institute for Sera and Vaccines and added the name "Torlak". Over the years, the Institute changed its name, and today's name, Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera "Torlak", was approved by the decision of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia in April 2008.
