Gwen Blair, the founder of Lamont Blair Chartered Accountants, is a qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Gwen gained 13 years' experience in Practice working with two of the leading mid-tier firms in Scotland, before venturing out on her own in January 2012. Gwen's ultimate goal was always to set up her own Practice as she is very much a 'people' person and wants to remain 'hands on' with her clients. However, prior to this Gwen gained extensive experience in both accounting and tax, progressing to the position of an Assistant Director before deciding to venture out on her own. Throughout her years in Practice, Gwen has prepared annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships and both annual and management accounts for limited companies. These businesses ranged in size from £10,000 to £4,000,000. Gwen has also carried out audits on a range of businesses with turnover up to £25,000,000. Gwen also has vast tax experience in dealing with compliance and advisory work covering such taxes as personal, corporate, partnership, employment, overseas affairs, capital gains and inheritance/trust tax. Gwen is extremely focussed and driven and thrives on working with people. This was highlighted in the managerial role undertaken by her in her previous employment role. Although Gwen is both methodical and extremely organised, she breaks the mould on the stereotypical image of an accountant.
