Adam Woodward

Job Titles:

Adam joined Barlow Andrews part qualified in 2015, finishing his Certified qualification with the firm shortly afterwards, in December 2016. Adam became a partner in 2021 and whilst servicing a varied portfolio of clients, specialises in tax planning, particularly for corporate entities and owner-managed businesses. Outside of work, Adam enjoys the gym, holidays to warmer climates and has recently taken up golf.

Alison Cornes

Alison joined Barlow Andrews in 1997 and qualified in 2001. Alison is our training and audit partner specialising in solicitors' firms and charities. Married with two children, Alison enjoys watching Manchester City and going on country walks.

Chris Harland - CEO

Job Titles:
  • MANAGING PARTNER
Chris joined Barlow Andrews in 2014, having formerly been a director of RSM Tenon. He specialises in strategic and tax planning advice and brings substantial experience to advising entrepreneurial, owner-managed businesses. Chris enjoys working with business owners to understand and help them achieve their long term financial goals. A life long Everton supporter, he also runs, cycles and skis in his spare time.

David Evans

David is a World Cup baby (by which we mean the last one England managed to win in 1966). Born in Bolton, but now living in Preston, he is a keen supporter of Bolton Wanderers FC, enjoys travelling and is frequently seen on both bikes and motorbikes.

David Kay

David is Barlow Andrews through and through, having trained and qualified here. He is our Senior Audit Partner and is a specialist in the charity and not-for-profit sector.

Dominic Grimes

Job Titles:
  • PARTNER
Dominic began his accountancy career at the age of 16 in a local Bolton firm and by the time he was 21, qualified as Chartered Accountant. In 2019, Dominic gained FCA status and has experience in working alongside a vast number of clients across a variety of sectors. Dominic joined Barlow Andrews as a Partner at the end of 2020. Dominic is a keen golfer and football fan. He's also fond of the odd holiday or two each year, whether that be in the summer sunshine on the beach or winter sun on the slopes skiing with friends.

Doug Barden

Doug joined Barlow Andrews in 1989 from top-tier firm, where he was Client Service Partner. Previously Managing Partner, specialising in financial management for his client base.

Emma Woods

Job Titles:
  • OPERATIONS PARTNER
Emma started at Barlow Andrews in 2002, a graduate of Economics at Lancaster University. She qualified as an accountant in 2005 and took over responsibility for IT within the firm in 2014. Emma is a home grown talent having progressed through the ranks, making Partner in 2017. Married with two children, Emma enjoys reading, going to the gym and walking with their dog.

Joanne Waddicker

Mark Pearson

Job Titles:
  • CONSULTANT
Mark joined Barlow Andrews in 1996, following a variety of roles in industry and private practice. An Audit and Accounts specialist, with a particular interest in family owned business, charities, unit trusts and pension schemes. A keen tennis player and also a Chairman of the Bolton Sports Federation Tennis League and a member of the Tennis Lancashire Council. He is a lay assistant at St Maxentius Church in Bradshaw, where he also sings in the choir.

Paul Burton

Job Titles:

Paul joined Barlow Andrews in 2016, having formerly been an associate at Mitchell Charlesworth, Manchester, and has spent over 30 years in practice at both small and medium sized accountancy and audit firms. He qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1998 and became a fellow of the association in 2003. Paul is experienced in looking after many family companies and partnerships of varying sizes together with a number of insurance, charitable and professional clients and his past experience includes the audit of many groups' and consolidated accounts preparation. Outside of work he played cricket in the Bolton League for over 20 years and maintains a keen interest in the sport. He also supports Stockport County, enjoys "fair weather" cycling and travelling the world.

Philip Riding

Job Titles:
  • SENIOR PARTNER
Philip qualified with Barlow Andrews in 1983 and returned to the firm after two years in Bermuda with Ernst & Whinney. Appointed a Partner in 1987 and Senior Partner nine years later, he is in charge of our litigation support services and is a member of the Academy of Experts. Philip is a keen sportsman and regularly plays Golf, Tennis and Football. He also enjoys Cycling and Fell Walking and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2010.
