CATHERINE BROWNE

Job Titles:

Catherine studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Greenwich graduating in 2017. Her passion for landscape architecture was informed by the Neolithic landscape of Wiltshire where she grew up, particularly the relationship between people and place. Catherine is a proactive and engaging individual, having taken part in several international landscape design initiatives including Land Art 2016 and the Idrija Lace Festival in 2017.

DAVID HAMMETT

David is an Associate Landscape Architect and has been at erz since 2014. He studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Edinburgh for which he received a Landscape Institute award for his student dissertation. David is a chartered member of the Landscape Institute, qualifying in June 2018. David has worked on several high-profile projects at erz including Calanais Visitor Centre, the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, Dunoon Waterfront, Royal Edinburgh Hospital and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice Glasgow. David has been project landscape architect on several projects including Cupar wynds public realm works, Balgray boardwalk, and Inler Park masterplan and delivery. In 2020 David became a certified Building with Nature Assessor.

FREYA BRUCE

Job Titles:

Freya began working at erz in the summer of 2018 having completed her Architecture Part 1 at Glasgow School of Art earlier in the year. She now continues to work with the team part time whilst completing her Part 2. Freya has a strong interest in sustainable design and is a member of the Scottish Ecological Design Association. During her studies Freya was awarded the ‘Krystyna Johnson Award' for sustainability for a residential design project in Beith and in 2018 participated in the ‘Studio in the Woods' workshop exploring the creative possibilities low-grade timber. Freya is interested in the harmony between landscape and buildings which is demonstrated through her design approach, drawings and graphics.

Kevin Jones

Job Titles:

Kevin Jones is an Associate Landscape Architect with over 10 years experience in professional practice, joining erz in 2018. Kevin has previously worked as a self-employed Landscape Architect in Glasgow and at J&L Gibbons in London to an associate level. In addition to this he is also a visiting tutor at Edinburgh University's ESALA and has been a mentor on the Landscape Institute's Pathway to Chartership.

MATT SMITH

Matt started at erz in Spring of 2019 having completed his Architecture Part 1 at the Glasgow School of Art in 2018. Matt has over 12 months of architectural practise experience, having previously worked in both design-led and sustainability-led practices. Throughout his studies, Matt has developed a passion for ecological design and a desire to think creatively with sustainability in mind. His holistic approach to design is demonstrated through his creative solutions to briefs, with outputs ranging from graphic commissions to building warrant applications.​

MURRAY McKELLAR

Murray studied architecture at Strathclyde University in Glasgow and at the Technishe Universitat in Berlin and registered as an Architect in 2012. Murray brings a passion for good design alongside a strong belief in the benefit of landscape led design and development. With over 5 years experience working on landscape and external works projects, Murray has developed strong project management and communication skills and has led the design and delivery of a number of significant projects in the office including winning the Integrated Habitat Design Competition in 2012 for the Nitshill Integrated Green Infrastructure Design Study and multiple awards for the University of Edinburgh's Arcadia Nursery, including a RIBA National Award and Scottish Design Award.

NICOLE MACIVER

Nicole Joined erz at the beginning of 2021. After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2017 with an MSc in Landscape Architecture she spent three years post-graduation with a small award-winning practice in Bristol. Nicole has collaborated on a number of schemes, including various student and residential projects, schools and a mixed-use regeneration project with a strong focus on promoting health and wellbeing through effective use of planting and space making. With a passion for both wild and urban landscapes Nicole likes to draw on both when she is designing. She believes that everyone and everyplace should have access to valuable green space.

PATRICIA FARRELLY

Patricia joined erz in 2019 having graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MLA landscape architecture. Having initially studied fine art and subsequently landscape architecture Patricia brings perspectives and skills from both these disciplines. She has worked on a variety of arts commissions, public participatory projects and held residencies at BCA, The Burren National Park, Ireland and SIM, Reykjavík. Patricia's approach demonstrates a thoughtful approach to site, focused on materiality and an acute sense of place.

ROLF ROSCHER

Rolf founded erz Ltd in January 2007. Rolf has lived, worked and taught in Scotland, Oregon and Australia. He has been based in Glasgow since 1993. His built projects, including Glasgow's Hidden Gardens and the Concrete Garden in Possil won numerous design awards including Civic Trust Awards, Dynamic Places Awards and Scottish Design Awards. Award winning studies include our project at St Peter's Seminary in Cardross and the SAGE Strategy for Glasgow. He has extensive professional experience in design, strategy and research and a strongly collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to landscape design.

ROWAN ROSCHER

Job Titles:
  • Assistant Digital Content Creator & Admin Assistant
Rowan joined the erz team in the Summer of 2020 and is responsible for co-ordinating web content and providing administrative support. Rowan enjoys bringing her various creative skills to the office to support the erz team. She is currently studying Art and Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College at the University of Dundee.

SACHA AIRLIE

Sacha joined erz in Spring 2019. She joins the team with extensive experience in finance, communications, project administration and management within the creative industries. Sacha has also worked with and facilitated a wide range of curatorial, educational and community projects over the years for organisations such as the Centre of Contemporary Arts, Talbot Rice Gallery, University of Glasgow, Glasgow Woman's Library, Glasgow School of Art and Rig Arts. Sacha's passions and expertise are focused towards providing support to innovative projects and organisations.
