Douglas Fairweather

Douglas Fairweather (MRICS) graduated with a Diploma in Building Surveying in his native Glasgow in 1983. Having commenced his professional career in private practice in Scotland, he became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1986. In the initial part of his career in Scotland he was involved in the survey, repair and refurbishment of residential and commercial property. Most notably, his work involved him in rehabilitation of the well known Glasgow tenement housing and other major projects in connection with educational and health establishments. Douglas moved to Belfast in 1986 to establish the Regional office of Calder Ashby. Since his arrival in Northern Ireland he has been deeply involved in the affairs of the institution and has held a number of posts with distinction including, Chairman and Honorary Secretary of Building Surveying Division (Northern Ireland), Honorary Secretary of Northern Ireland Branch RICS, Assessment of Professional Competence Chairman and former member of Northern Ireland Building Regulations Advisory council.

John Maguire

John Maguire (MRICS, ACIarb), who comes from County Fermanagh, graduated from Ulster Polytechnic in 1981, with a Diploma in Estate Management. His professional career commenced in the public sector where his primary involvement was with planned maintenance, refurbishment and improvement of housin A move to private practice in 1985 afforded extensive experience in more diverse surveying activities involving office, retail and industrial property. It was while employed in private practice that John successfully completed the professional examinations of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, gaining Membership in 1990. In addition to practical surveying activities, he has particular interest in construction contracts, landlord/ tenant matters and presentation of expert witness evidence in legal disputes. In pursuance of his interests in building disputes resolution, he achieved Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 1994.
