Adam Haines

Adam is a partner and specialist employment lawyer with experience advising on all aspects of employment law from the beginning to the end of the employment relationship. Adam's practice has a focus on senior executives and complex terminations, business restructuring, TUPE /outsourcing, discrimination and whistleblowing claims. He has worked extensively in the private sector with businesses of all sizes from SMEs, multi-nationals to PLCs. Adam advises a wide range of clients in the technology, housing association, financial, manufacturing, transport, charities, pharmaceutical and media sector. In addition, Adam has appeared in employment tribunal on behalf of clients in complex multi-day hearings.

Andrew Lees

Andrew is a solicitor in the Real Estate team specialising in commercial property, in particular matters relating to the letting of land for use for renewable energy developments. Andrew deals with a wide range of matters relating to commercial property, including landlord and tenant matters, sales and acquisitions of commercial development sites, agreements for the sale and acquisition of residential development sites both by way of conditional contracts and options, secured lending work, voluntary land registrations, optioning and leasing of land for renewable energy developments and property issues arising from corporate sales and acquisitions. Andrew has acted for a large number of agricultural land owners in relation to the optioning and leasing of their land for the purposes of renewable energy schemes ranging from single owner developments to large schemes involving over 20 separate land owners. Andrew seeks to provide pragmatic advice and commercially focused solutions to problems that arise during transactions to enable clients to complete transactions. Andrew is originally from High Legh near Knutsford and joined Aaron & Partners from national law firm Weightmans in March 2012. Recently we were referred to Aaron & Partners for assistance with a complex multinational deal, acquiring a campus for a UK based university which included aspects of conveyancing and employment law. We initially worked with Andrew Lees who dealt with all the conveyancing efficiently and effectively. His service was second to none and he made everything extremely simple and straightforward. As part of this larger deal, Aaron & Partners' Ben Mason managed the employment law challenges that arose with the acquisition of the land and buildings on the campus. They are an exciting and flexible firm who are growing in the right way.

Anjali Brown

Arian Thornton

Arian is as a Paralegal within the Contested Wills, Trusts and Estates team with a particular focus on contentious trusts and probate. She graduated from the University of Chester with a 2:1 in law and received a commendation in her Legal Practice Course (LPC) with masters. Arian is currently training to become a Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. Arian has experience in dealing with a wide range of estate and trust disputes and deals with estate administrations with a complicated or disputed element. Examples of cases in which Arian has been involved include the following: Successfully assisting the beneficiaries of an estate with an application to remove the executor Assisting beneficiaries with defending a claim to overturn a Will on the grounds lack of testamentary capacity Advising executors and beneficiaries in relation to bringing and defending claims against estates under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 Assisting in a mediation involving a challenge to a will on the basis of undue influence and fraudulent calumny Arian also has many years' experience with traditional wills and estates work and can advise and assist on matters such as drafting wills and lasting powers of attorney, capital tax planning and estate administration. Arian is also a fluent Welsh speaker and is happy to take instructions in both English and Welsh.

Ben Mason

Ben Mason joined Aaron & Partners in November 2015 as an associate in the Employment team. He is based in the Shrewsbury office. Ben has experience in all areas of employment law and provides commercial and pragmatic advice to both commercial and individual clients across a wide range of sectors including financial, retail, IT, manufacturing and sport. He advises on a wide range of employment law, including contentious and non-contentious work, and has experience in conducting and advising upon employment tribunal claims including complex discrimination claims, TUPE cases and unfair/constructive dismissal cases. Ben also advises regularly on disciplinary and grievance procedures, restructuring and redundancy procedures, changes to terms and conditions, settlement agreements, and senior-level exits. He also has experience in conducting internal hearings for clients. He has a particular interest in sports law and has advised local Football Associations on many aspects of employment law. He has also advised professional footballers on the early termination of their contracts by their clubs. Ben regularly provides in-house training, seminars and workshops to clients on the full spectrum of employment law. We have recently been looking to expand our business and grow internally through the appointment of a senior member of staff. Having used the commercial services of Aaron & Partners in the past, we turned to Ben Mason for employment advice and he has recently reviewed our employment contracts, including that of our new senior hire. Chris is a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency team and has over 12 years' experience, including 9 years with Addleshaw Goddard. He advises on commercial issues arising from contracts, company law, banking, restructuring and dispute resolution. CLAIRE BROOK

Claire studied law, human resource management and Japanese at Keele University. After a spell working in Cumbria, where she qualified as a solicitor, and in the North East, Claire joined Aaron and Partners in July 2005 and became a partner in June 2009. Claire advises a wide range of employers on all aspects of employment law, from recruitment and employment, through to complex dismissals and representation at employment tribunals. Claire has substantial expertise in contractual terms and policies and human resource issues. In particular, she regularly advises clients regarding sensitive or complex grievance and disciplinary matters. Claire also advises clients regarding TUPE and redundancies (including collective consultation). An employment tribunal advocate, having won one of the first tribunal cases on age discrimination, Claire has successfully defended large employers in tribunal claims. In addition, she acts for employers in multi-claimant cases. Claire regularly assists with the production of the firm's employment law updates and writes features for the GP magazine. She is an active public speaker and has presented at national conferences, she also carries out both external and in-house training courses on topical employment law issues. I have secured the services of Claire Brook previously and was very impressed with the way Claire represented me and my interests. I recently needed help again regarding employment matters and I went straight to Claire at Aaron and Partners. Clive qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and, having studied at the College of Law Chester, returned to the North West to work at Aaron and Partners in 1997. He now heads our Wills, Trusts & Tax team. A regular speaker at seminars about making wills, mitigating inheritance tax and protecting assets, Clive is also a Notary Public and advises on international estates with contacts in many countries. He's authorised in the execution of international wills and regularly advises on nursing fee planning and statutory wills and gifts. Clive is chairman of the trustees of the Tyrer Charitable Trust. He also chairs the Gwynne-Jones Charitable Trust, which supports the arts in Chester, and is a trustee of the Chester Municipal Charities, one of the oldest charities in Chester which dates back to Elizabethan times.
