THE PRESHAL TRUST - Key Persons
Betty is a successful business woman running a family business since the late sixties as well as undertaking many voluntary roles for various charities. Betty served on the board of Eastpark Home for Infirm Children for around eight years in the capacity of Fund Raiser in the early 1970s. She went on to join the board of the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and worked with them for around eight years. As well as attending monthly board meetings and being involved in important decision making, her main role was fund raising.
She joined the Board of Trustees of the Preshal Trust seven years ago and has seen the project go from strength to strength. Betty gives both practical help and advice on fundraising.

Brett Nicholls qualified as Chartered Accountant after training with Coopers and Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) in New Zealand and London. He specialised within Corporate Recovery work and was involved in receiverships, intensive care and investigative work on behalf of banks and other clients.
Brett has been living in Glasgow for 22 years and over 17 years ago he moved into economic regeneration work and was Finance Director for Govan Initiative Ltd for a number of years. Over the last six years he has been involved in consultancy work mainly within the regeneration sector.
Brett joined the Preshal Trust in 2002 and is at present our Treasurer and Secretary.

Campbell qualified as an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1965, and set up his own Practice in Glasgow in 1968 which ran successfully until his retirement in 2006. At that time the Preshal Trust was in the early stages of planning for a new building to extend their charitable work in the Govan area, and he was delighted to be asked to join the Trustees to assist with the building project.
Clare has over 23 years' experience in the financial services industry including investment analysis, fund management, training and investment marketing at The Stock Exchange, WM Company, Scottish Widows and Abbey National plc. Qualified UK SIP and member of CFAinstitute; member of the Investor Relations Society and Institute of Directors.
Don studied and gained a BA (first class honours) and PhD. He taught and lectured for 6 years and then entered educational administration with a local authority.
He was Senior Education Officer for schools with Birmingham City Council with responsibility for the special education sector from 1979-1987. He then became a Director of the Scottish Vocational Education Council (SCOTVEC) and Director of the Scottish Qualifications Authority from 1987 - 2001. He was a Director of the Open Door Trust in Glasgow from 2003-2006 and became a Trustee of The Preshal Trust in 2007.
He is also a Director of Route 81 (a youth and community project based in Garelochhead), a post which he has held from 2005 to date.
From 1963-64 he ran a maltings in Salisbury and from 1964-76 he sold heavy construction machinery and founded Woodside Pneumatics which was the first Scottish company to offer full turnkey compressed air projects. He carried out a large management buyout and successfully managed the transition of a major steel industry contractor into the UK's largest Landfill Company from 1982-88, leading to a public flotation. He formed Airchannel in 1988 and led another management buyout, involving Fidelity Plant Hire and Woodside Pneumatics. Gavin retired in March 2010 and in 2002 joined The Preshal Trust, becoming deputy chairman in 2006.

John began his career with Customs and Excise, subsequently working as a Customs Consultant for Levi Strauss. He then moved into Global Logistics working for a number of global logistic providers including United Parcel Service (UPS) and TNT. John was Director of U.K. (Northern Region) for UPS starting up three operations in Scotland. He was involved in organisational change, taking companies through mergers and acquisitions.
Towards the end of his career with TNT John was responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental and Quality Assurance Programmes for Europe and the Middle East. John joined the Preshal Board in 2013.
MacIain spent 1956 to 58 on National Service commissioned in the Royal Artillery. In 1961 he spent some months working with UNWRA in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan. From 1961 to 1966 he worked for various insurance companies before setting up own insurance broking business, Service Miller and Co Ltd, in 1966. In his spare time he undertook many voluntary jobs with Christian Action Housing, British Rheumatic and Arthritis Association and for many years, was a director of Glasgow City Mission. In 2002 he helped set up The Preshal Trust.

John worked in Babcock Engineering for 35 years starting on the shop floor as an apprentice welder in 1960. He was made redundant and by accident he and his late wife Marion came upon The Preshal Trust and met our founder May Nicholson. John is a local resident and has been a great supporter of the Trust and spends his time helping others as well as driving May to many speaking engagements.
John joined as a Trustee in 2011.
Fergus was ordained as a Church of Scotland minister on 5 May 1982. He was Assistant Minister at Glasgow Cathedral from 1981 to 1983, Parish minister at Stevenston, Ardeer from 1983 to 1988 and Parish minister of Milngavie, St Paul's from 1988 - present. He has served on a number of General Assembly Committees including the Board of Social Responsibility and Board of Ministry. He joined the Trustees at Preshal in Jan 2011.
Shanny studied Philosophy (MA), Theology (BD), Interfaith Relations (MLitt) and is currently studying Human Rights Law and International Politics (MSc). She would like to learn more about reconciliation work.
She worked briefly for "Religions for Peace", "Sotheby's" and as a volunteer for "Interfaith Scotland". She is convener of CAIRS (Churches Agent for Interfaith Relations Scotland part of ACTS Action of Churches Together). Shanny joined the Trustees in 2013.
