Adam Caruso

Adam Caruso studied architecture at McGill University. Together with Peter St John, he founded Caruso St John Architects in 1990. Alongside Peter St John, Adam oversees the work of Caruso St John's two offices in London and Zurich. He is closely involved with all projects, public and commercial, including projects in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and buildings of the highest listing in the UK. Adam regularly contributes articles for international architectural publications, and has authored and co-edited a number of books, including The Feeling of Things; Rudolf Schwarz and the Monumental Order of Things; Asnago Vender and the Construction of Modern Milan; The Stones of Fernand Pouillon: An Alternative Modernism in French Architecture; and Hopkins in the City. Adam teaches in parallel with his practice and, in 2011, he was appointed Professor of Architecture and Construction at ETH Zürich. He has previously taught at the University of North London, the University of Bath, the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, and the Cities Programme at the LSE. Adam is invited to lecture internationally on wider themes relating to architecture, as well as the work of the practice. Adam is a member of the RIBA, the Federation of Swiss Architects, the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects, the French Order of Architects, and the Berlin Chamber of Architects.

Florian Zierer

Florian Zierer studied architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig and at ETSAM, the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Madrid. Before joining Caruso St John's London office in 2006, Florian worked in Berlin for the practices of Hans Kollhoff, and of Professor Adolf Krischanitz. He also taught architecture with Adolf Krischanitz at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Florian was made an associate in the London office in 2009. In 2013, he joined Caruso St John's office in Zurich as a Director, and he runs the Zurich office together with Michael Schneider.

Michael Schneider

Michael Schneider completed an apprenticeship as a structural draughtsman, and then studied architecture at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz, and at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Before joining the London office of Caruso St John in 2006, he worked for Meili Peter Architekten in Zurich, and taught architecture at the ETH in Zurich under Peter Märkli and Markus Peter. Michael was made an associate in 2009. He founded Caruso St John's Zurich office in 2011, and he became a director in 2013. Michael runs the Zurich office alongside Florian Zierer.

Peter St John

Peter St John studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, and at the Architectural Association. Together with Adam Caruso, he oversees the two offices of Caruso St John in London and Zurich. He leads projects of all scales - from large urban developments and cultural projects, to intricate interventions in complex historic settings. Peter has taught architecture throughout his career and is a Professor of Architecture at London Metropolitan University. He has previously been a Visiting Professor at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, and at the ETH Zurich. Peter is a member of the RIBA, the Federation of Swiss Architects, and the Berlin Chamber of Architects.

Philipp Boenigk

Rod Heyes

Rod Heyes studied architecture at the University of Cambridge, and at London Metropolitan University. He joined Caruso St John in 1998 and was made a director in 2005. Rod oversees the management and strategic direction of Caruso St John's London office and leads several project teams. Rod has taught diploma at Bath University, Kingston University and at London Metropolitan University. He is a Design Fellow in the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge, and was Visiting Professor of Architecture at TU Wien in 2020. Alongside his practice and teaching, Rod recently completed an MSc in Building Conservation from the University of York, and is registering as a Conservation Architect.
