Alice Vage

Alice was born and raised in Cornwall. She studied Law at Swansea University graduating with a 2:1 honours before moving to London to study her LPC with Masters at the University of Law Bloomsbury, graduating with a Commendation. Alice qualified as a solicitor in August 2022. After finishing her academic studies, Alice joined Penderlaw subsequent to completing work experience with the Firm in 2016. Alice supervises the Private Client Team and drafts Wills, Powers of Attorney, and deals with the administration of Estates and Probate applications. She also carries out lifetime succession planning. Outside of work Alice enjoys walks in the Cornish countryside, sailing, running and spending time with her family and friends.

Amy Davis

Amy joined the Private Client Team as a legal assistant in 2017 after relocating with her family to Cornwall from Bristol. She enjoyed many summer holidays in Cornwall during her childhood. After completing her A-Levels, Amy undertook a Level 3 Retail Apprenticeship with the John Lewis Partnership where she developed her exceptional administrative and customer service skills. Amy now works alongside the solicitors in the Private Client team dealing with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters. In August 2023 Amy achieved ACILEx accreditation and is continuing her studies, as well as working full time. Amy has previously travelled across Eastern Europe and spent a brief period working in a Romanian orphanage. In her spare time, Amy likes to read and bake, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Beth Sadler

Beth was born and grew up in Cornwall and completed her A Level in Law with Callywith College in 2020. Her previous employment was with Holiday Inn Express where she worked on Reception and gained skills in customer service and front of house. She joined Penderlaw Solicitors in February 2021 as a receptionist, keen to build on her skills and experience through her position with Penderlaw. In March 2022 Beth began assisting our Wills, Trusts and Probate team and is now a Paralegal within that team. In her spare time Beth enjoys going to the beach and coast path walks with her friends and family.

Claire Gummow

Claire joined Penderlaw's busy Property team in September 2021. She grew up in Cornwall and has worked in the county for many years, meaning she has a wealth of local knowledge, as well as legal knowledge. Claire's expertise spans a wide range of conveyancing transactions including sales, purchases, transfer of part, and affordable properties. Claire especially enjoys working alongside property owners to find solutions to any legal issues which arise. Outside of work, Claire enjoys walking and reading - when she can fit it in around family life!

Claire Lockwood

Claire moved to Cornwall in 1985 from Northamptonshire and has worked at Penderlaw since 1996 when she joined the firm as a Litigation Executive. Claire is our longest serving member of staff. Claire, a former fitness instructor, enjoys running, pilot gig rowing, skiing and generally keeping herself fit. She can be found walking her dog on many of Cornwall's beaches particularly during the Poldark filming season for a spell of Aiden-Turner-spotting.

Dale Teobald

Dale was born in Surrey but grew up in Cornwall from the age of 7, so very much considers Cornwall his home. He studied Law at the University of Plymouth graduating with a 2:1 in 2017. Following his graduation Dale was employed at McDonalds where he worked his way up to Assistant Manager gaining valuable customer service and management skills with a global brand. Dale joined Penderlaw in March 2022 as a receptionist and is keen to develop his legal knowledge and build on his existing skills and knowledge in his new role with Penderlaw. He is currently assisting our Property team and continuing his legal studies. In his spare time Dale enjoys studying history, with a particular interest in the Protestant Reformation. Dale is an avid reader, especially the works of the reformers. When he hasn't got his head in a history book, you'll find him walking or binging on TV series.

Demelza Dunstan

Demelza is proud of her Cornish roots and qualified as a solicitor in 1998 having completed her professional studies at Southampton and Exeter universities. Prior to joining Penderlaw in September 2016, Demelza had a short time away from practice teaching law at both degree and professional qualification levels which has enhanced her communication skills. Priding herself on her technical ability, Demelza undertakes all aspects of residential and commercial conveyancing with a particular interest in complex transactions. Away from the office Demelza enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters and their mischievous cat, Razzle and her Jack Russell, Otis. Demelza is also a Chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives which involves writing and reviewing exam papers.

ELIZABETH PENDER

Elizabeth was born and grew up in Cornwall before moving away to study and begin her career in marketing. She returned in 1999 and worked as Marketing Manager at Trebah Gardens, and then at the Eden Project, before joining Ramsay Healthcare to apply her marketing skills to a different sector. She then worked as a freelance marketing consultant before joining Penderlaw as Brand & Operations Manager in October 2020. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, learning the cello, playing tennis and enjoying beautiful Cornwall.

Erin Tregonning

Erin was born and grew up in Cornwall. She studied Law at A Level and graduated in 2018 with a Criminology degree from Buckinghamshire New University. She returned to Cornwall following her graduation and initially worked in a customer service role in hospitality before moving to a firm of Solicitors based in St Austell. Erin joined Penderlaw in May 2022 as part of our busy Reception team and now also assists our Wills, Trusts and Probate team. Erin's interests and hobbies outside of work include sea swimming and walking.

Jennifer Harfoot

Jennifer grew up in Cornwall and went to the University of Roehampton in London to study drama, theatre and performance, graduating with a BA (Hons) 2:1. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding, cooking and baking. Jennifer joined Penderlaw in September 2021 and works as an Executive in our busy Property team.

John Wyatt

John qualified as a Solicitor in 1981 and became partner of a large Plymouth law firm shortly after. John was then managing partner for a total of 11 years and built up a successful career in litigation and animal welfare law. John was also President of the Plymouth Law Society in 2000. In 2015 John retired and now assists Penderlaw as a business consultant giving practical advice on, and helping to implement, improvements to both the management of the practice and in relation to other changes required to improve the overall performance of the business. John enjoys skiing in his spare time and has a collection of vintage cars.

Lucy moved to Cornwall in 2004 to study Textile Design at University College Falmouth where she graduated with a 2:1 honours degree. After working for a national recruitment agency and stockbrokers she joined Penderlaw in 2013 to the Private Client Team where she is now a Probate Manager dealing with probate applications and estate administration. Lucy is married and has a young son and daughter with whom she enjoys going for beach walks. She spends her spare time running and sewing gifts and clothes.

Lucy Wilton

After studying her Law with Criminology (LL.B Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University, Lucy came to Penderlaw to undertake work experience during the summer months of 2015. Following this, she then joined Penderlaw full-time as a legal assistant in the Private Client Department. In March 2020, Lucy qualified as a solicitor, following the completion of her LPC (Legal Practice Course) and Training Contract with Penderlaw. Lucy supervises the Private Client Team and drafts Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and deals with the administration of Estates and Probate applications. She also carries out succession planning; advising on both lifetime and post-death arrangements. Outside of work, Lucy enjoys spending time with her young family, socialising with friends, and also visits her local gym regularly.

Paul trained with Grant Thornton over 20 years ago and is a Chartered Accountant. After seven years working in general practice, Paul was appointed head of finance at Bond Pearce Solicitors. Nine years later Paul took the opportunity to take the Finance Director role at Foot Anstey Solicitors, a position he held for seven years. Paul is an experienced Finance Director and the ideal person to give practical advice on, and helping to implement, improvements to both the management information and in relation to other changes required to improve the financial performance of a business.

Rachel Macwilliam

Rachel was born in Somerset but moved to Cornwall at a young age. She studied law with business at the University of Plymouth where she also completed the Graduate Diploma in Law before going on to complete her Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Rachel joined the firm in December 2011 and having started her training contract in March 2013, qualified as a solicitor in December 2014. Rachel is a self-proclaimed bookworm, regular theatre-goer and sporadic gym-goer. In her spare time, she also enjoys baking, spending time with her family and friends and looking after her three young nephews. Robin Pender

Robin was born in Cornwall, and spent his childhood in the picturesque village of Mousehole. He studied in Durham and London before moving back to Truro to begin his legal career. Robin qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and has vast experience not only in law firm management but also in Private Client work, as well as a wide range of litigation work. Robin invests a huge amount of time and energy into supervising his team, passing on his knowledge and expertise. Enabling his colleagues to progress in their careers and continue to deliver a high standard of service and quality work. Robin enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and out on the water.

Samantha Bellamy

Shortly after graduating in 2011, Samantha joined Penderlaw and works as a Chartered Legal Executive in the Property department undertaking all aspects of property transactions with a particular interest in commercial matters and high value transactions.

Sara Tucker

Sara has been with Penderlaw since 2012, where she joined as an Accounts Apprentice studying AAT after a history of customer service and administration roles. In managing the firm's day to day accounts, she was able to demonstrate her number ability and help assist in the management of the company's finances. Over time, and after a break away with her children, Sara has continued to expand her knowledge in law firm management whilst managing the firm day to day as HR, as well as being involved in strategic planning, project management and legal compliance. Sara became Operations Manager in 2017, and was promoted to Practice Manager in 2020. In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her family exploring Cornwall, walking and taking time out at the beach and on the water.

Tegan Pownall

She qualified as a solicitor in August 2023. Outside of work, Tegan enjoys all things ‘country', from walking the dogs along the coastline to summertime picnics with friends. She also enjoys, travelling, skiing, and cooking.
