I attended Selwood from 1992-1996, my mother worked at the school for a number of years and now my daughter is starting in September so I fully understand the school. I am the current Chair of Trustees and have served on the governing body since 2007.I oversaw the transfer to Academy status in 2011 and the revision of the articles in 2022. I have led the school through three Ofsted inspections, including the most recent inspection in June 2022, which again assessed the school as ‘Good.' I have previously taught Maths in Warwickshire and Lancashire which gives me a good understanding of life within a school. I have 3 sons who have all attended Selwood and other Frome schools, and having lived in Frome for over 30 years know the area very well.

I have been a trustee since October 2012, first as a Parent trustee and now as a Community trustee. Both my sons attended Selwood Academy. My youngest son is at Frome College and my older son is away at university. I am Chair of Teaching and Learning committee and the Pupil Premium link trustee. I am a qualified primary teacher with an interest in Special Educational Needs and Disability. Together with this interest I am passionate about Selwood supporting all children through a broad, balanced curriculum which gives all the opportunities to be the best they can in life. I moved to Frome 38 years ago. All three of my children attended Frome College and two of those children also attended Selwood. I was trained as a Legal Secretary and when I came to Frome I worked for some years at Daniel Cruttwell. While in this job I learnt a great deal about Frome and its people. By a series of circumstances I then came in contact with an Educational Psychologist who wished to start a private practice in the area. I became her PA and helped her set up the practice. I found this job very rewarding and I enjoyed having contact with teachers, parents and children and I very soon became fascinated by how even very minor difficulties could affect the learning process. I am an active member of the Church of England and feel that I am very much in tune with the vision and core values of the school, having a passionate belief that every child of whatever ability should be in an environment where they can be proud of their achievements. Since retiring I have become a member of the Frome Society for Local Study, and enjoy visiting and learning about places of interest in the area. I also enjoy walking and pottering in the garden.
