York Medical Society was founded in 1832 for "the purpose of promoting and diffusing medical knowledge". Over the many years since, many distinguished doctors have been members and given lectures to the Society. The Society has its own rooms within a beautiful Grade II listed building in Stonegate in the heart of the City of York, and today provides a unique location for topical lectures, events, conferences and wedding receptions... Founded in 1832. We currently have approximately 300 members most of whom are medical practitioners. We have rooms in the Centre of York that have been used by the society since 1944... Founded in 1832 the society is made up of doctors from the York area meeting regularly for education, entertainment, and networking opportunities.
