I am a UNIX contractor currently working at British Telecom's Northern Command Centre in Sheffield. The team looks after about 500 boxes, mainly Solaris but some Linux, Sequent and AIX boxes as well. The systems we support are spread throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and encompass many major systems, e.g. the directory enquiry system, billing and fraud detection systems. There are currently 3 contractors on the team and 6 permanent BT staff with varying levels of skill and experience. I have configured and installed the DNS (Domain Name System) for the whole directory enquiries system both national and international. Should BT's 192 system not work some time in the future I suppose you may be able to blame me. P.S. I am quietly confident that this will not be the case however.
