Malcolm Padgett

Malcolm read law at Oxford University and spent the first 10 years of his career with one of the major London law firms acting for clients in the consumer credit and insurance markets. He became a partner with Coffin Mew LLP in 1984 and in 1994 established the firm's Insurance and Business Regulation Department. Malcolm has thereafter personally specialised exclusively in the conduct and regulation of consumer focused general insurance and warranty products. He is well known as an external legal adviser to a large number of insurers, banks, brokers, distributors and retailers. In October 2011 Malcolm retired from practising as a solicitor to establish his own consultancy providing legal, regulatory, compliance and training services and publications targeted at management and compliance teams within the retail distributed general insurance markets. Malcolm is a regular and highly regarded speaker at industry and trade association conferences, client forums and in-house seminars.
