David Hegarty M.

A partner at Macaulay Wray Solicitors since 2004, David is an expert in all matters relating to probate, trusts, tax and administration of estates and strategic estate planning. He is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Having grown up in Aghadowey, David studied at Coleraine Academical Institution, before graduating in law from Girton College, Cambridge. He then went on to complete his Master's Degree at Bristol University and his Legal Practice Course at Chester College of Law, joining Macaulay Wray Solicitors in 2003.

Elizabeth McKay

Originally from Ballymoney, Elizabeth is one of the most senior and respected litigation solicitors in the area and is Senior Partner and Head of Litigation within the practice. Elizabeth has a wealth of experience in criminal work, local authority prosecutions and in divorce and matrimonial cases. She was also accredited to the Children's Order Panel and was on the Panel for the Guardian ad Litem Agency. Elizabeth now specialises in road traffic accidents, personal injury claims and credit hire cases. Elizabeth graduated in law from Queen's University, Belfast and took up her position as an apprentice with Macaulay Wray Solicitors in 1988, qualifying in 1990. She was made a partner in 1998. Elizabeth has also served on the Board of Governors for Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballymoney, and for St Brigid's in Ballymoney.

Glenn McCaughey

Specialising in residential and commercial property, including work for major developers, Glenn handles all liquor licensing matters for Macaulay Wray Solicitors' extensive commercial base. A partner since 2008, Glenn joined the team back in 2006, having previously practised in England after he qualified as a solicitor in 2004. Born in Ballymena, Glenn was educated at Ballymena Academy and went on to study law at the University of Dundee in 2001. He also completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York.

Jane Millar B.

Jane brings a wealth of expertise to the areas of wills, trusts and the administration of estates, and also handles conveyancing matters at the practice. A partner since 2013, Jane is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) www.step.org. Originally from Coleraine, Jane, a former pupil of Victoria College in Belfast, graduated with a degree in History and History of Art from Trinity College, Dublin in 1997. After working in property for five years in Dublin, she then returned to Northern Ireland and graduated in law from the Open University in 2003. Jane qualified as a solicitor in 2007 through Queen's University Institute of Legal Professional Studies. She completed an apprenticeship before returning to Coleraine in 2007, when she joined the Probate and Trust Department at Macaulay Wray Solicitors.

Joe Diamond

Specialising in domestic and commercial property transactions, Joe advises banks in Northern Ireland in relation to secured lending and property issues. He also provides services within the area of criminal law. A Portstewart man, Joe graduated in law from Queen's University, Belfast in 2012 and joined Macaulay Wray in August 2014.

John McCaughan

John specialises in domestic and commercial property transactions and advises banks in Northern Ireland with regards to secured lending and property issues. Originally from Coleraine, John qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and worked for a large commercial firm in Belfast before returning home to join Macaulay Wray in 2013.

Judith Glasgow

Judith has been with Macaulay Wray Solicitors since 1999 and has gained extensive experience in a wide range of civil and commercial litigation. This includes significant experience in matrimonial and family law and she was accredited to the Children Order Panel in 2002. Judith is also responsible for domestic conveyancing work. Originally from Cookstown, Judith read law at Queen's University, Belfast, where she graduated in 1994 and where she was then awarded her Master of Laws in 1995. Judith is a former Secretary and Treasurer of the Coleraine and Ballymoney Solicitors' Association.

Lisa Murchan

Lisa specialises in property matters and personal injury cases, including medical negligence claims, commercial and partnership disputes, judicial review proceedings, planning appeals, contested estates and debt recovery matters. She also has extensive experience in the area of credit hire. Having begun her career with Macaulay Wray Solicitors as an apprentice solicitor back in 2006, Lisa joined the busy litigation department in September 2008 after completing the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. She became a partner at the firm in June 2016. Outside the office, Lisa, who now resides in Portstewart, was a former Governor of Dalriada and is now a Director of Coleraine BID.

Miriam Harte

Miriam specialises in litigation, particularly road traffic and personal injury cases. She also has a keen interest in family law. After qualifying from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in 2007, Miriam practised as a litigation Solicitor for 8 years in a busy Belfast firm. She then worked in the public sector for the Department of Justice for 2 years before joining the litigation department at Macaulay Wray in April 2019. Originally from Ballymena, outside the office Miriam enjoys spending time with her young family and sits on the Board of Governors of St Malachy's Primary School.

Oonagh Boyle B.

Oonagh specialises in employment, family and matrimonial law, and is a mediation expert. Accredited to the Children Order Panel since its inception, she represents parents and/or children in public and private law proceedings, and sits on the board for the local Contact Centre. Having managed her own Coleraine practice for six years before joining Macaulay Wray Solicitors in 2013, Oonagh previously held a position on the Board of Triangle Housing Association.

Seán McKay

Job Titles:
  • Practice Manager
As practice manager at Macaulay Wray Solicitors, Seán manages all aspects of the day-to-day running of the firm, and has lead responsibility for managing the support team. As a result, the solicitors are therefore free to concentrate on their busy caseloads. Originally from Ballymoney, Seán graduated in Computing Science from Ulster University's Jordanstown campus in 1991. Since then, he has held a number of roles within the technology sector and previously spent 17 years as Assistant Director UK in the Information Technology department at Barnardos. He therefore brings great efficiency and professionalism to the Macaulay Wray Solicitors team.
