David O'Neill

David O'Neill was previously an Associate with Fleming & Barron and prior to that was employed by Bickerdike Allen Partners. His past experience includes being lead acoustic designer on BBC Leeds, BBC White City Broadcast suites and Central School of Speech and Drama. With Ion Acoustics he has been responsible for the acoustic design for BBC Eastenders film stages at Elstree, LeSoCo College in Southwark, Stirling Prize winnning Burntwood Academy, the fit out of BBC North at Media City Salford and a series of Passivhaus primary schools. He has prepared designs for schools, colleges and universities, and for flats, offices, studios and auditoria. He is currently Secretary of the Institute of Acoustics South West Branch. David lives in Bristol with his family and his mountain bikes.

Gavin Irvine

Before setting up Ion Acoustics Gavin worked for Fleming & Barron and Bickerdike Allen Partners as well as providing freelance consultancy for Hayes McKenzie, Buro Happold and others. He has also worked for Marshall Day Associates in New Zealand and Brüel & Kjær in Denmark and for large transportation schemes such as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. With Ion Acoustics he has worked on over 100 wind turbine projects. He also enjoys working with architects and design teams on a range of building acoustic projects which include theatres, schools, housing and supersonic wind labs. He is currently Chair of the Institute of Acoustics Working Group on Amplitude Modulation. Gavin lives in Bath and is a keen cyclist and reluctant runner.
