Prudence Smith has over 30 years' experience conceptualising and executing communication projects and strategies for international development with the UN, NGO and private sector. She spent 16 years with the World Health Organisation leading communications and advocacy for the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, and subsequently as a writer and developer of strategy within WHO Director General's Department of Communications. She now works as a consultant, writing about global health for a broad range of clients, based in France.
Prudence has worked extensively in global health communications, particularly with infectious diseases, producing published articles, op-eds, media releases, and conceptualising info-graphics, GIFs and public health advocacy materials. From 1991 to 2001 she was based in West Africa producing and directing audio-visual projects for UNICEF, OXFAM and local NGOs, and was instrumental in shaping an income generating documentary film unit for the Ghana government.
Prudence was a Director of Smith Milan Associates from 1986 to 1991, which specialised in promotional and training films; she was responsible for the development and production of film/video projects and client liaison. Educated at UCLA in the Master's programme, and at Westminster University in the UK, Prudence also holds a BA in Photography and Film and trained and worked as a documentary camera assistant for the Inner London Education Authority.
