Adam initially joined HiDef in 2014 as engineering support, he left the company due to re-structuring in 2016 but returned to the Engineering Department in July 2019. His role is to liaise with the aircraft operators and suppliers and lead the service side of the business to ensure camera rig serviceability to enable successful aerial surveys to be carried out each month.
Adam's previous career as a Royal Navy aircraft engineer, including worldwide service on 3 aircraft carriers has definitely helped him in his current role. He is now splitting his time between Cumbria and the two airports HiDef uses in Merseyside and Nottinghamshire.

Aidan is HiDef's Operations Manager, he is responsible for the day to day running of the aerial survey and data processing operations which requires him to have adequate resources in place both internally and externally including our aircraft providers and ornithological subcontractors. As well as this, Aidan takes the lead role in maintaining and developing our management systems including ISO accreditations and compliance with relevant legislation. Aidan's background is in engineering and continuous improvement where he achieved the level of black belt in Six Sigma. His previous experience in operational development at Senior Management level holds him in good stead to develop further our continuous improvement processes.
HiDef embrace development of our staff and currently have a number of apprentices and Aidan will have a valuable input into their development as he is especially proud to have received an Award from the deputy prime minister for his work to raise awareness for apprentice-based education.

Prior to joining HiDef, Allison was a National Account Manager in the Office Supplies Industry and latterly worked in Lettings and Property Management. Anna joined HiDef in June 2022 as a Project Manager. She has a passion for the marine environment with a background in marine biology and ecology, having completed an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter in 2018. Her research involved mapping fish lifecycle biogeography amongst seagrass, mangroves and coral reefs. Anna is also an Advanced Open Water PADI diver.
During the pandemic, Anna worked at one of the lighthouse labs processing the nation's COVID PCR tests. She led teams to process patient samples and project managed sample storage activities. Prior to this she worked as a Proposal Developer, project managing international teams to plan clinical trials. Anna also has experience in consultancy from her time working with biotechnology companies in Australia.

Ben joined HiDef in February 2023 as a Project Manager. He brings with him a broad scientific understanding, having completed his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences (with study abroad) at the University of Exeter including marine biology, microbial ecology and operations management.
Prior to his role at HiDef, Ben worked as a Scientific Consultant at a small firm specialising in cargo loss prevention advice in the maritime sector. During his time, he managed projects with varying size and scope from drafting technical reports and providing advice for legal and insurance clients to leading on-the-ground investigations into high-exposure cargo claims across Europe, the Middle East and West Africa.

Caroline joined HiDef in April 2023. She has a background in Marine Science having studied at the Scottish Association for Marine Science. She focused on underwater noise, marine mammals and marine renewables for her PhD. Caroline's previous role was with NatureScot as a marine ecology advisor. Within this role, she led on underwater noise advice for offshore wind projects, tidal stream projects, harbour developments and aquaculture. She also sat on project steering groups for Scottish and UK research projects.
Catherine has a background in geography and spatial analysis, having completed an undergraduate degree in geography at the University of Glasgow in 2013.
Catherine is our lead project manager, she is responsible for the delivery of a number of HiDef's high-profile projects, including those for the renewable and conservation sectors. Since joining HiDef in the summer of 2014, Catherine has rapidly established herself and her abilities as a talented environmental scientist, authoring a number of survey and analysis reports, as well contributing to peer-reviewed studies and papers. Catherine is leading the Projects team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our projects.
Catherine is a keen Scout and Guide, gaining the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award through scouting, as well as having been awarded the Queen's Scout Award and the Queen's Guide Award.

Catriona joined HiDef as Principal Consultant in March 2020 and will be leading on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Habitats Regulations Appraisals (HRAs) for seabirds and marine mammals. She has a strong background in public sector impact assessment having worked for Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) for over twenty years, in the last ten acting as their lead for offshore wind farm development on the east coast of Scotland. She was SNH's casework lead for the Moray East and Beatrice offshore wind farms in the Moray Firth, and the Seagreen Alpha and Bravo, Neart na Gaiothe and Inch Cape offshore wind farms in the outer Firths of Forth and Tay. She has a special interest in writing clear advice for both specialist and non-specialist audiences and has trained with the plain English campaign.

David is responsible for the planning and oversight of a variety of projects. Ensuring all parties are kept up to date and aware of the requirements needed from them. He works closely with the operations team to observe that deliverables are met on time and to scope, whilst administering change controls that effect's the project plan.
David's PM roots are in Architecture and its management, but more recently moved to projects that detailed on digital modelling of spatial GIS data. Typically based around SME environmental, species and geographical narratives, and portraying it to a wider audience.

Glen joined HiDef in January 2023, having previously worked for NatureScot as a marine ornithology advisor, with involvement in many offshore wind projects in Scotland, and leading seabird monitoring work.
Prior to joining NatureScot he worked for RSPB research for 17 years on a range of species conservation work from woodland grouse and wet grassland waders to reedbed specialists.
His PhD is in Corncrake ecology with a focus on grassland management. His work for HiDef will cover Environmental impact assessments for marine energy projects with an emphasis on science-based answers to consenting issues.
Besides his work in conservation Glen has also been a crofter, fire fighter and engineer. He is on the board of directors for Fair Isle Bird Observatory.

Jonathan is responsible for software development for a number of projects at HiDef aiming to increase productivity.
Jonathan has worked in a variety of roles within IT and software development over the years turning a school hobby into a career. He started out introducing the first desktop PCs into the CEGB before working on IBM mainframe networking for Nuclear Electric and British Energy.
Continuing in IBM mainframe networks and into general networks and firewalls, Jonathan managed systems for large corporations including Coca-Cola, Birmingham City Council and Cadburys.
After the millennium he moved into middleware software development and an enjoyable role at Cadburys supporting early dial-in e-commerce processing millions of pounds worth of orders per week from the large supermarkets.
