CHRISTOPHERS - Key Persons

Alan Christophers

Job Titles:
  • Director
Joined Christophers 2002 I was born in Helston and at the age of two moved to Newlyn. I returned to Helston just after I failed my eleven plus and attended secondary school there. I started in estate agency in 1977 and trained to be a surveyor. I was one of the original team at Christophers alongside my wife Patricia , Garry and Sheila without whose support and help the company would not have started. I have two children and I am fortunate to combine my two main hobbies of sport and photograpy with my pictures of Helston teams appearing form time to time in the local press. I have followed Manchester United since 1966 but was connected to them from birth having been named after Duncan Edwards who had shortly before lost his life in the Munich air crash. In my younger years I played cricket and football for Helston. I enjoy listening to music particularly The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Paul Simon and Coldplay. I am very lucky to have worked alongside so many dedicated, professional, successful and genuinely nice colleagues in my time with Christophers Estate Agents.

Joined Christophers 2010 I was born and brought up in Porthleven and moved into Helston in 2004. I worked for a solicitors in Falmouth for two years then a position in a local solicitors in Helston came up and I worked for them for a further two years. I left the solicitors to have my daughter and to concentrate on being a mum. In the new year of 2010 I was itching to go back to work and I joined Christophers in the February. I am based in the Porthleven office which to me is ideal, as I am from Porthleven, know the village very well and have strong local knowledge. I enjoy spending time with my family, socialising, shopping and having completed the Brighton marathon in April 2017, I love to run and go to the gym.

HELSTON FLORA DAY

Helston Flora Day takes place on May the 8th, unless it falls on a Sunday or Monday when it is moved to the preceding Saturday. The origins of the festival are lost in "the mists of time" and the event draws thousands of spectators to the town.

Joined Christophers 2018 I was born and educated in Penzance. After attending the Penzance Grammar School for Girls, I then went on to complete a two-year secretarial course at Camborne College (now Cornwall College). My very first full-time employment was at an estate agent in Penzance. I spent five happy years there before moving to Helston, at the age of twenty-two, to get married and raise a family. I am very lucky to have two children, a daughter and a son and two grandchildren. I have now lived in my adopted town of Helston for over thirty years and have worked in the town in both the private and public sectors; first as a secretary in a firm of solicitors and later, when both my children were established in primary school, in a teaching support role at the College. In January 2018 I was very pleased to be invited to join the team at Christophers', a local company whose reputation for warm and friendly service is combined with a traditional and professional approach. I look forward to contributing towards their continued success.

I joined Christophers in 2011 having worked for another local Cornish Company for 26 years in various sales environments.
